Local angler Gordon gets his season up and running.
The river gauge on the top beat was standing at two inches above zero. The water temperature was 9 degrees and the air temperature was 12 degrees. There was a light north easterly wind blowing upstream.
15' #10 rod and floating line combination with a 5' fast sinking polytip and a 15lb maxima tippet, tied to another fly tied by the head ghillie himself, Grant Sutherland.
Another stunning springer in the net.

Thank you very much for your kind words Peter, they are very much appreciated. This season, I have tried to give people an idea of what the river and weather conditions were, as well as the rod length and the line/ poly tip/ tippet and fly, used by the angler. When I am fishing, I use Loop 7X rods of varying lengths, according to the height of the river. I use a variety of Loop Classic and other Loop reels, some specifically for their sound but always for their performance, their drag systems are outstanding. I use a mixture of Loop and Rio lines, assorted polytips, I always use Maxima nylon, generally the ultra green, due to our incredibly clear water and the flies that I use, are mostly tied by me.
