Oh MY GOD THIS BRANDON GUY IS LITERALLY EVERYWHERE!!! I swear to GOD I can't go a single day without seeing him somewhere for the last THREE WEEKS, my best friend actually just started cross-training at his gym and she's encouraging us to leave and train under him full time, maybe it's a sign. Everywhere I go I see his face. You know what, right now as I'm typing this I say screw it, if the universe wills me to train under Mccaughren then I will. 75 minute drives everyday here I come!

I never thought anything negative about 10th planet, but Eddie himself seems a degree or two off center. But clearly that dude can roll. They say a lot of the same stuff about Joe Rogan, and he's at the top of the list of guys I don't want to take a kick from.

But can’t he roll when his calf is pinned because you force him to turtle from momentum? You would have to be precise pinning his ankle and block his hip from turning, right? At full speed that’s pretty difficult, I would think. Awesome if you can execute it though.
@brandonmccaghren1207
@brandonmccaghren1207 6 жыл бұрын
No, because you have his other hip controlled. This stops the rotation.

At full speed, almost anything is tough to hit. That's where drilling comes in and sharpens the timing of your movements. :)

How can a deep calf slicer hurt the knee joint? Asking for a friend (aka me) my knee popped a little bit but just hurts the back of my knee.
@jamesthera
@jamesthera 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if you ever got the answer to this, but the leg or arm in the knee serves as a fulcrum, creating a lever out of your leg with one side being extremely longer than the other. This allows a great amount of force to be exerted at the short end of the lever (your knee). As the lever is pulled on, it's stretching and can separate ligaments inside and around the knee due to the stretching of the inner knee. Namely the ACL and MCL.

Hey Chewie, I need help. Yesterday, I chose to go out to a choke in my tournament after a brutal americana attempt. IBrazilian Jiu-Jitsu means a lot to me and it gave me so much. I tap at training and I would tap if there was no chance at escape in a joint lock but I trust the medics and refs enough to go out to a choke. My family is really giving me a hard time because of it and just bashing me. I have my principles and I chose to go out the way I did and that makes me happy about it. That fulfills that I did do everything in my power. All my training, all my sacrifice and I didn't just give up. None of them are fighters and even if I try to explain, they just bash me even more. Help please, I love this sport and its brought me out of a devastating time of my life where I lost all purpose and got sent into self-harming, suicidal depression for months and I found BJJ. I don't know how to deal with this.
@josephmack1835
@josephmack1835 6 жыл бұрын
I think about the best you can do, is try to frame it in a way they can relate to. "I kept going until I passed out, because I didn't want to tap out, then be up at 3am wondering "what if." Life puts everyone in those positions, where its tap out and wonder what if, or keep rolling. I imagine they've all tapped out of getting that girl's number, or taking that road less traveled enough times, that they can relate to you taking your shot. Even if it didn't work out, you went out trying. Good on you man.
@garybolenable
@garybolenable 6 жыл бұрын
I know it's easy for me to say this without being in your shoes Evan, but you shouldn't have to explain yourself to anybody. Just tell them that's how you roll and if they can't accept that then it is their problem, not yours. My hat is off to anybody willing to put everything on the line when it counts. Big up yourself, brother!
@snakesocks
@snakesocks 6 жыл бұрын
Your life belongs to you; not your family. If BJJ Brings you joy, provides exercise and helps move your life in a positive direction. I don't see how your family could argue with that. As for the "not tapping out" thing. It's up to you. Helio Gracie refused to tap out to a shoulder lock by Masahiko Kimura and it resulted in his arm breaking. Perhaps a bit stubborn, but you've got to admire his resolve. Just be careful. Getting choked unconscious repeatedly could have accumulative health effects.
