Thank you so much Alex! Well deserved credit for producing a beautiful capture of an extremely grueling physical and mental (yet super exciting ) adventure. Just watched another few hours again tonight - just great. Foam finger support very special. Looking forward to your future recordings. Thanks again. All the best!

Congratulations on your accomplishment! 30,000 miles - whoa! This was our daughter's first marathon, at age 38. You did a fantastic job recording the journey. I am putting together a video for our daughter & fam of the clips, pictures and snapshots of the tracking markers we captured as we followed her progress. With your permission I would like to include a few of your great captures of sights & sounds you passed along the way and of course would be sure to cite your source in case she where to ever put it on KZbin. Please let me know if that would be ok. Congratulations again on a great achievement and for recording so well for posterity! Really like your videos.

Thank you so much Bob, for your kind words! I honestly thought the whole 4+ hour concept of recording, not just because of the heat your daughter, myself and the rest of the runner's had to endure, but because of the technical issues up the wazoo, that this particular video was never going to happen! It took a ton of editing and massaging afterwards to get this "oink oink" to look good with some makeup, LOL. So thanks again. Oh, and you are more than welcome to use anything I have here. Thanks again and come back soon, I've got a lot of videos coming up over the next couple of years (hopefully :-) ).

So much emotion! This was my first marathon and I'd just turned 42. Husband brought my three sons to catch me several times along the course. It was such an amazing day!!! I told everyone that in all of my scenarios, I never envisioned running in a tank and shorts in NYC in NOVEMBER LOL!

Hello, thank you for the video. A question from me, because i’m not familiar with imperial system. Is the blue text with running icon indicates the pace in miles? Thank you!

I am so interested in how you attached the live running details , how did you incorporate the map and statistics at the top of the screen? I’d love to do this for the Columbus Marathon. Was it from data on your garmin or did the GoPro have an app for this?
@runnersdigest Жыл бұрын
Happy to share! I used a program called 'Telemetry' which I downloaded off the internet. What Telemetry does is that it takes you data (.fit, .tcx, etc) and imports all the geopoints to a map for you. And that data comes from Garmin and also any GoPro that has GPS enabled on it too. If you want to learn more about telemetry, go check out their website -> goprotelemetryextractor.com/ Happy Runnings Oliver, and best of luck to you on the Columbus Marathon!

Thanks for sharing this!! This course look like fun. I am also running the TCS NYC Marathon this year as well. This will be my first ever marathon. Any tips for keeping your speed through the hills?
@runnersdigest Жыл бұрын
Actually I do! (and sorry for not seeing this sooner, as I was out filming in California-see other videos). Don't waste your arm strength on the down hills. Keep them low and avoid putting them in a pumping position until you start going up a hill. Also check the length of your stride. Often, runners overstride losing their center making not only for inefficiencies (knee well out in front of body) but more prone to injury. Better to increase cadence with shorter strides then fewer and longer ones. And on uphills. pump with arms, engage core (hence core exercises are key for uphill battles). Be wary of 110th Street to 90th Street on 5th Avenue towards the end of the course. It's deceptively evil, lol.

good video! How did you record it and not move so much? where and with what did you put the camera? how many batteries did you use? greetings!
@runnersdigest Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. I used a GoPro 11 and a head band to connect it too. The 11 has a great stabilizer features except for when one makes left and right turns. To fix that I use Adobe Premiere and rotate manually. I used a passthrough battery door and hooked the camera up to an external battery. This added several pounds of weight to my frame, but eliminated any chance of filming less than 5 hours.

Why cant the main stream media do this in 4K? That's why we spend the big bucks on 4K equipment to view them.
@runnersdigest11 ай бұрын
That's a great question, considering that little GoPro is not that terribly expensive for media outlets to use. :-)
