There is magic at the Christmas Headquarters in the Arne and Carlos household, where time is measured the length of a Dolly Parton song; where real candles are lit to mark the weeks of Advent and where there is joy in a treasure found in an unsuspecting place with a cake shared with a loved one. We are so lucky to witness such wonder and candor. The Christmas Stocking, a mystery project, is occupying us daily, adding to the cheer and suspense. "It is only 6 rows a day, "they say, "it's not complicated and won't take very long". And so we embark on this wonderful journey, certainly not the last since they established their company in 2002. Like true magicians, they are showing us that all hurdles and setbacks - large or small - can be overcome one stitch, one step, one breath at a time.

I’ve been rewatching last year’s Advent calendar with the knitting tips each day and the MARVELOUS gingerbread house. You two are dressed in reverse this year! Last year, Arne was in the green remade 50s ski sweater, and Carlos was wearing a Setesdal style sweater in black and white. Little bits of continuity like that make me smile. I'm using yarn from the cruise in Sept of 2020 and some beautiful Frid yarn I bought at Hillesvag. Love how the Japanese wrap their gifts. So delicate looking. I had to laugh at Arne curling the ribbons. I remember many a Christmas season curling ribbon with my Mom and Grandmother. Every package they wrapped had to have curled ribbons on it. Most times the colors were the same and green curls were on red-ribboned packages, but that was fine. It was fun and time spent with family. Hope all is well. Arne and Carlos was established in 2001.

It doesn't feel like a gift without the curly ribbon. I also love the sound the ribbon makes when you curl it. Reminds me of present wrapping parties my family had when. I was a child. 'Cleaning' the Arne way! LOL! I didn't have access to fabric stores as a child so to make doll clothes I used to raid my grandmothers 'duster bag' where she kept her old scrap fabric to use for actual cleaning. There was always lots of flanlette cotton in floral prints which I loved. My competition entry is ARNE & CARLOS was established in 2001.
