I was listening to properly divided lessons a few years ago and when it "clicked"... I jumped out of my chair! It fits perfect! I spent 5 years studying and got aggravated with it and quit for 20 years! Believe it or not a JW asked me a question and it got me studying... and here I am! "Rightly dividing" and believing!

What are the strongest arguments that some will use to argue against using rightly dividing the scriptures? Are there any?

If one doesn't rightly divide the word of truth, then they wrongly combine the word of truth. If you wrongly combine Peter's church with Paul's church, then by default, you will wrongly combine Peter's and Paul's gospels, wrongly combine Peter's and Paul's apostleship and wrongly combine Peter's and Paul's body of doctrine. This leads to wrongly combining grace with works and wrongly combine prophecy with mystery. Then you are left with nothing and nowhere to rightly divide.

Thank you for this study. So then what is the name of the Church that was started on Pentecost with Peter? How did a gentile become a part of that church prior to the Body of Christ in Acts 9? Since Christ had already been crucified and resurrected, would the believers who are part of the Pentecost church at that time been subject to salvation based on faith alone or Faith + works? I ask this question since Christ said it is finished and I take that to mean that the work is done.

I'm confused. 😕 Did the actual Desciples not believe & were they not then saved by grace? Or were they not saved by grace until after that extra year of repentance? Otherwise, why were they preaching end times to followers of Christ rather than "You are now saved by grace"? I always assumed that the 1st Christians were the Desciples & true followers/believers in Christ crucified & resurrected at the time it all happened. But it sounds like you're saying the Desciples only preached that even the believers of that day were heading into tribulation for rejecting their Messiah. Not that the ones who believed were saved. (Although, I imagine that even Christ believing Jews at that time thought they were going through the tribulation when Rome persecuted them & they were hidden in catacombs & their Temple was destroyed.) When did the Desciples finally preach to the Jews that they, too, could now be saved through grace, just like Paul told the rest of the world? Surely those who walked with Him eventually figured it out! Surely! Help me to understand why they spent so much time preaching Israel/Jewish tribulation throughout their ministries & never "saved by grace"?

Hi Shilohaura, unfortunately the disciples were not saved by grace. That salvation would be by grace was revealed to Saul of Tarsus after Acts 9. Until Paul no one knew that Salvation would be a free gift. Paul said, Eph 3:4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Eph 3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; What Paul preached, Romans to Philemon, was not known by anyone until it was revealed to him from the resurrected Lord from heaven. So forget everything Paul taught about the rapture, even though he was the ONLY ONE unto whom it was revealed to. And then take a verse for Jews and apply it to the church. Madam that is being a preterist, and clearly demonstrates you being the victim of bad teaching 2 Tim 2:15 The kingdom is for Jews. It is written through out the old testament. Our life is eternal in the Heavens 2 Cor 5:1
