@@boswater6065 Can you make a follow-up video with running the unfiltered water through ZeroWater first, then run the ZeroWater filtered water through the Costco/Kirkland brand pitcher? Theoretically, that would remove the copper from the ZeroWater filtered water and you would essentially have a better/cheaper/cleaner water out of the bunch. No?
@boswater6065Сағат бұрын
@JtotheRizzo This might work, yes, but since our pitcher video, we've tested another ZeroWater filter element in the 32-cup dispenser and didn't find elevated copper levels. So it looks like this isn't always an issue.
@JtotheRizzo31 минут бұрын
@@boswater6065 Interesting... I also use the 32-cup dispenser. Both the pitcher style and larger dispenser style use the same filters so was it a matter of a bad filter or a bad/skewed test result for that particular filter? And with this new finding of 100% removal of copper, where does it put the ZeroWater in the rankings? FYI - I called ZeroWater's customer service in the past because of the slow filtration, and she said I needed to "hold the filter horizontally and shake it side to side for a minute or two (or vertically and shake up and down). That will remove/release the air pockets inside the filter that accumulates over time. This does help with speeding up and filtration time like if it was a new filter and does yield additional gallons but when you do this, test your water with the TDS often as the filter will eventually fail and you'll get the fishy smell. I've never officially measured it but it feels like it yields more than 40 gallons. I use ZeroWater's filtered water for drinking and for my humidifier (1 gallon capacity) for a family of 3. Take it for what it's worth.

Is there any filter that filters bottled water microplastics?

I don't think that there's any testing for bottled water microplastics specifically. There's only general microplastic testing.

Hi thank you ! Does the waterdrop get rid of lead ?
@boswater606516 күн бұрын
You're welcome! I can't provide a clear answer on this unfortunately - our water doesn't contain lead and the Waterdrop pitchers isn't NSF-certified for lead reduction. It uses the right filter media so I would assume it removes at least some lead, but I think you're better off with a different model such as the Clearly Filtered or the ZeroWater.
@Yepperpepper16 күн бұрын
How come in the excel sheet you don’t show which one gets rid of lead ? Thx
@boswater606516 күн бұрын
That's because our water doesn't contain lead. So while the lab does test every water sample for lead concentrations, we can't provide a reduction rate because our lead level is always 0 ppm.

What about the Gobalt in clearly filtered water because there was anther test on line showed clearly filtered water has high Gobalt amount in them,,,,😮 so how you did't mention that??
@boswater60653 ай бұрын
Great question! Mainly because we didn't find cobalt in our filtered water, and we try to be careful when a third party detects substances that a water filter may have leached into the water. For us, this is different from third party testing showing that a water filter is having problems removing certain substances (as with the ZeroWater and disinfection byproducts). But maybe we need to overthink this in certain cases. Btw, I've checked and if the Clearly Filtered pitcher really leached cobalt into the water, at least it was 10-20 times below the strictest health guideline we could find (still not ideal obviously).

Fluoride is my primary concern, yet the pitcher that you recommend seems to add it to the water. Why?
@boswater606521 күн бұрын
We're addressing this in the video. We think our numbers on fluoride are flawed due to an interference of the lab's testing method. Again, this is explained in the video and the google sheet as well.
@EmmaJBrown-tm1lhАй бұрын
Wait, is that an increase in flouride for clearly filtered?!
@boswater6065Ай бұрын
Yes, but as explained in the video we believe that is due to an interference of the testing method. We don't know of any filter media that would contain fluoride so we highly doubt that the Clearly Filtered added any into the water.

Hi, I am looking for a pitcher that soften water. Does waterdrop electric water filter ED06W (soft water system) really do what it claimed? Or, do you have any other recommendation?
@boswater60652 ай бұрын
I've checked the pitcher and based on the product images it looks like it could be using ion exchange resin so the same stuff that you find in water softeners, but I could be wrong (the product description doesn't clarify). Other than that, the only pitcher we tested and that remove almost 100% of water hardness was the ZeroWater.
@JL-dh4ub2 ай бұрын
Great info. Actually I want a softener for shower. I searched online and found Waterstick but find that its a hassle that it requires regular salt regeneration process. Thus, I thought of collecting soft water thru pitcher and use it for hair washing. Other than using pitcher, do you have any recommendation for shower product that fits my requirement?😅
@boswater60652 ай бұрын
There might be shower filters that soften water, but the question is for how long until the filter media is exhausted. When you think about how much softening resin is contained in a genuine whole house water softener and you compare that to a shower filter, the difference is really obvious. Also, whole house water softeners regenerate their resin on a regular basis which a shower filter doesn't do. We've never tested this, but personally I wouldn't trust a shower filter to soften my water long-term.

zero water seemed to of filtered all the disinfection byproducts? What are you referencing in the video?

We are referencing results from Derek (Modern Castle) here on KZbin and results from the EWG. They saw around 50 to 80% reduction of disinfection byproducts - you can find the links to their testing in the Google Sheet. Also, we recently tested a ZeroWater dispenser which uses the same filter element as the ZeroWater pitcher and we also saw lackluster filtration when it came to disinfection byproducts (video will be published soon).

@konnectmarketing9527 @eslafalbayati6340 We tested the Clearly Filtered pitcher 3 times for fluoride, but never saw a reduction. However, as explained in the video, we believe our test results for fluoride are flawed. Essentially, the CF pitcher increased water alkalinity and we think that this lead to higher measured fluoride concentrations in the filtered water which is a known interference of the applied testing method. Simply put, we wouldn't trust our numbers on fluoride reduction. But I known that other people have tested the Clearly Filtered pitcher. Maybe check out their data!
