Another tip that I picked up from a lot of well dressed older gentlemen, is that you do not need to put together outfits that look good, by selecting each piece and trying them on together, if you just build a wardrobe with pieces that go well together. My grandpa is always well dressed and looking sharp, yet he never spends time in the morning picking out his outfits, he just grabs something off the shelve and wears it, but because all of his shirts look good on all of his trousers, he always looks well dressed. So before buying random clothes, find a style that suits you, and then think about all the pieces you would need to get by for two weeks, and still have variety in your garments, and then buy the basics first. Over time you will create your own personal style with a wardrobe, that just can not miss, even if you just throw random pieces together.

Every piece of clothing has a care label in it that gives washing instructions. For dark clothing, always turn them inside out, check that all pockets are empty, and don’t ever put lighter clothes in with them. Use cold water. The label will tell you what temperature to use in the dryer or if you should put it on a hanger or lay flat to dry. Also, you only need about two tablespoons of laundry detergent. Never put in the big cup the detergent manufacturer says as they just want to sell you more. Too much laundry detergent will not rinse out properly and will make your clothes dingy.
