I have that exact wristwatch!!. Wow.!! Got it at a flea market. Took it home put a very miniscule amount of lighter fluid on an artists paint brush and lightly spun it into the holes where the watch oil goes. Then put a miniscule amount on a fresh brush and oiled it and twisted the watch back and forth like a doorknob.(i don't mean wind it)to make it tick and it works and keeps perfect time.

There is a large reason the electric burner is recommended for the fallout shelter over any openflame type cooking despite the likelihood of no electricity. As you mentioned, the problem is ventilation. You don't want to be burning anything in an enclosed space due to toxic fumes like carbon monoxide plus the reduction in oxygen. Additionally, you don't want gasses in the shelter due to possible leakage causing high toxicity levels in the air or worse - an air fuel bomb. For more on this, I would suggest checking out Atlas Shelters' youtube channel. Especially when he is critiquing some of his competitors' shelters or when he has one of the nationally known engineers discussing shelter design.

​@survivedoomsday It's a common item used for dealing with human waste. I think it sucks out all the moisture and helps control odors, but I'm not sure. I see it often at a lot of old cabins in the desert. Usually have some in the outhouse to spinkle down the can after doing your business. I think its too caustic to use with bags though. I usually see it where there is a removable drum for later disposal of the contents.

@@davidhawkins847 Interesting. I did Google it. Looks like it was used a lot in Medieval times. It was even used to blind sailors before boarding their ship. At least, I thought I read that.

​@survivedoomsday Couldn't say on the use for ship boarding but wouldn't surprise me. It is very caustic so it would be like throwing any other poison in someone's eyes, though i think the likelihood of getting it wet in your hand before throwing would be more dangerous since the thrower would get chemically burned. I think it was also used with bodies for the same reason as waste control.
