Unreal RPG is based on the game Unreal, an FPS pc game that came out in 1998 and started Unreal Tournament and the Unreal game engine. It's like Quake and Halo.

​​@@epj0211It kind of got buried in time. I never hear anyone talk about it. Maybe Unreal Tournament once in a blue moon but not the original Unreal single player. I loved that game as a kid. I thought it was more fun than Half-life at the time haha.

@@j85grim4 I've got both U1 and UT. Yep, people did set U1 aside. As for myself, I liked the backstory and felt it did offer a unique spin on FPS vs DOOM and Quake. Also neat to have some games that were well utilized for the Glide API. I had a Voodoo3 PCI card in a AMD tower at the time. Glide games ran the fastest in my modest Win98/K6-2 350 MHz rig.

The funniest thing me playing Unreal as a kid was I thought: "Wow! They are never going to top these graphics! Best graphics ever!" That thought didn't age well 😂

Its pretty good for real. Ended up that I binge playing that Deathstrider mod, its a must try anyone who likes tactical-ish and magic wizardry skeleton (known as Solomon)

Gun Bonsai makes you pretty damned overpowered at higher levels. It kinda gets to a point where merely shooting a few rounds into a room will make everything in the room dead or dying xD

Brutal doom platinum 2.0 hits the sweet spot for me. And combined with Obsidian level generator it gives infinite replayability

As someone who has played both mods quite a bit, I can say DS is way easier to get into. Also, as an aside, it works with monster mods, and is even seemingly intended to be played with them.

@@R0ck4x3 Yeah, allready playing it. The only problem is item spawning. Some maps have rules where you have to find ammo or weapons on a map without secrets or money resource. It's best to put mod that allow spawn of items normal way. There is one at the bottom list of addons on mod's web page.

@@dard2240 ehhh, for most maps, the OG Spawning addon isn't strictly necessary to be able to beat it. But I can definitely see how the changes to item spawning could inadvertently break some maps.

You should check out nobody told me about id, it's a gameplay mod that adds a bunch of mechanics from build engine titles like blood and duke Nukem like non centered weapons, faster paced gameplay, Duke's mighty kick, etc

Doom infinite is one of the best doom mods for 1 thing gives all the incentives you expect from roguelikes like going further 1 more try 1 more run even if you die you may of learned something for the next run

Aside from Doom Infinite, I actually didn't know about the mods after Lithium. All 11 look absolutely amazing. MetaDoom is one of my personal favourites (and admittedly one of the only ones I've played from this list) I feel MetaDoom doesn't get enough credit. The things it does are impressive and the mod is a couple of years old compared to these brand new releases.

personally I always play with obsidian random map and play with my hellrider or other weapons pack and try a lot of monster packs and use custom doom to adjust their health and damage take to create a survival like fps game but that's just me 😆👍

I'm trying to get doom infinite to work with a controller but I can't remap the ability button so I can use the ability to the controller. I need to rebind the controller button to one of my keyboard keys but the standard xbox software won't allow. Do you know of any software that will? Or do you know how to fix gzdoom to allow this maybe?

I've only played/tried 3 of these so far and my experiences so far, i still have to try the other 8 sometime - Reelism 2 is awesome!, It reminds me of Skulltag Invasion in a way but bigger and sillier and with a fun slot machine thingy, highly recommend - Corruption cards is one of my favorite mods of all time in general, its fun to play through maps sets that i'm familiar with with this, I think Hardcore is the best because the card effects stack every round instead of every 3 rounds - I had awful buggy / crashy experience with Doom Infinite :/ not good

HDest has it´s own magic but a lot of things about it are really hard to understand unless you watch a HDest streamer every day

its actually not built on HDest at all, to call it that is a disgrace to Aces code and an *extremely* unjustified praise of Matt's code in HDest. HDest is held together with glue and shitty dollar store tape while Deathstrider is pure modularity and cleanliness

The closest connection to HD that DS has, is that it features some weapons and mechanics that were originally made as addons for HD, but that's it
