Twisted Sister's Dee Snider appeared in a pretty funny commercial for Sprite. The KFC ad was aired in the US and Canada, but all of the actual music was censored out, presumably because the wussy puritanical audiences would have a heart attack seeing anything vaguely satanic. There was something like 5 major metal/hard rock magazines in the US in the 80's Circus, Hit Parader, Metal Edge,Rip(which came along later), and another the name of which escapes me now. Rip was basically the edgier of them, while it covered the big acts like the others did, you'd have an issue with Motley Crue, but there'd also be an article about some lesser known act like Coroner or DRI.
