hot water from the coffee maker and Sharpies to color the plain plastic beads - just heat it, smoosh it together, let it cool, scribble on it with a Sharpie, heat it again and knead it to distribute the color.

Tips for melting thermoplastic: depending on what you're trying to do the melting method that is most beneficial will be different, but I've found that the best methods are 1) steaming in a metal container placed inside a double boiler setup. This is best for if you want to melt a lot of plastic of any thickness at once and keep it melted for a long time (you can leave the pot on a simmer and leave extra thermoplastic to keep melting as you work with what you need) . This is what i do to prepare fresh pellets for sculpting, and then i roll the plastic out into long thin tubes which will make it easier and faster to melt using method #2: 2) a blowdryer or heat gun blasted at close range on a surface that retains heat. Best for thin flat pieces of plastic and large blobs as theyll stick to the surface easier and stop blowing away. Depending on the surface you melt the plastic on what you leave on there can stay melted for a while too. I use a glass cutting board and a normal hairdryer. This method is also good if you want to melt in a localized area of a large piece or if you want to melt just the outermost surface of a piece without distorting the object's overall structure 3) the shortest tool in a Winons Hot Wire Foam Cutting set. This tool is an absolute must have for fine detailing. Note that this method leaves brown burns, which may be a problem if aesthetics are of a concern. Some other handy tips: -You can fold a small amount of acrylic paint into a melted plastic wad to tint it. -You can make easy cheap at home silicone molds just using silicone caulking. You can also add corn starch for a faster and firmer set. I sculpt shapes in air dry clay and then cast them in silicone, and I've found that these work great with thermoplastic. A great way to make jewelery and capture fine details that are easy with clay but would be almost impossible to sculpt out of thermoplastic on its own. Make sure to spray the objects you're casting with cooking spray first or the silicone will fuse to the object and youll ruin the object and the mold. Will add more as I think of them! I've been using thermoplastic in art projects and around the house regularly for years so I've gotten this down to a science.

Thank you for sharing the information about thermoplastic. Also, thanks for the answer below about buying the different colors on eBay. Take care and I hope you are not around where the storms are flooding.

Thank you for the concern, sir. I am from Chennai, India. But I do understand what those poor souls are going through in the storms. We had a similar situation here a couple of years ago. May God be with them

Buying Thermaplastic beads is expensive. Are there any cheaper ways to get thermaplastics? For instance any everyday type objects that use thermaplastics and can easily be recycled? An answer from the Channel owner gets a sub and various video likes.

I just got a pack of Ingo. I am sure what else can be substituted. But sometimes I use plastic weld method for fixing household things. Like using plastic from broken buckets to fix kitchen knife handles etc.
