Thank you very much. What is the difference between direct and indirect link failures??

You forgot to mention TCN which indicates that it has been a change in the network topology. It will be generated by the switch which detects a change, either addition, removal or a link going up or down. It will later be sent to the Root Bridge to inform it of the topology change, which will acknowledge this notification. And after, the Root Bridge will broadcast a special type of BPDU(TCN BPDU) to all switches in the network. In turn this will prompt switches to update their MAC address table, ensuring that the forwarding database is current with the new topology.

hi , may i know , what about TCN generation ?

If link failed, switch A will not wait for max age to expire, instead it unblocks the blocked port as it is direct failure.... What type of link failure will not be understandable by SWiTCh A and needs max age to expire?

I tool feel that in case of direct link failure , it will not wait for max-age timer to expire and directly go into listening state

when will a switch create TCN and send it to Root?

why did f0/1 on Switch A become root? why didn't G0/1 go back to being root?
@リンゴ酢-b8g2 жыл бұрын
that's because g0/1 on switch a detected a failure on this interface and so it had to use its other port for the new convergence
