Glad you found it useful. The trick with books is to identify 1-2 ideas that you can learn & build around. Wouldn't averaging above buying price affect margin of safety?
@shankarnathАй бұрын
Price is just one part of margin of safety. If one pays a higher price but receives even higher value then the margin of safety improves. This happened to me -- I bought stock X at say, 1 rupee in 2022. The price jumped to 10 rupees in 2023 but since I was monitoring the business, I could see an improvement in value (order book, margins, better capital allocation) and doubled my investment at 10 rupees. Effectively, I had halved my unrealized profit but because the margin of safety had improved, the price continue to accelarate and now in 2024, it's a 20 rupees. It's a crude example but price is not a complete reflection of MOS

@shankarnathАй бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion
@Stable_Money23 күн бұрын
Hi Alex, In the event of a bank going bankrupt, RBI & DICGC have prescribed a comprehensive process which can be found below 1. After a bank goes bankrupt, it will publish it in the press and media and same will be published on the DICGC website, informing its depositors and the public at large about the bankruptcy. 2. Depositors then fill out the DICGC claim form online and provide alternate bank account details where they want the amount to be credited. Depositors get 45 days to fill out this form 3. DICGC then reviews all the claims and settles the amount as per the insurance limit for each depositor 4. The liquidated bank settles the amount back into the depositor's bank account within 45 days. The whole process may take up to 90 days. Stable Money will be with you at each step of the way in case such a situation comes to pass.

What do you think of Sovrenn’s recommendations and research about micro cap companies? Most of the companies they covered in their research have gone up in value
@shankarnathАй бұрын
Well, stock price going up shouldn't be treated as an isolated event. What's of concern to investors is that will it can go up more or will it come down. Pls use Sovrenn's research to understand that part
@adityashewale4374Ай бұрын
@@shankarnathUnderstood. But I do like their research on a lot of micro cap companies. And it definitely gives me more information or let’s say a complete evaluation of all the various factors that go into whether or not a company will go big in the future. Ofc all that information can be found by myself but it is a time consuming process. So what you would think of their analysis of micro-cap companies in general? Is it something you use or it sovrenn worth getting the subscription if I’m running short on time and want more information about various small cap companies? Thank you so much and love you work! I have been compiling various points from your videos to make my own long term ccp type-ish portfolio
@ayushvarma9657Ай бұрын
Hi Shankar sir, yet another great video. While I mostly agree with all your points, I personally believe one has to pick stocks with visible growth levers at place. In the book as well, when the portfolio was initially formulated with the likes of asian paints, hdfc bank and others, they were in their growth story stage. The reason for Marcellus's recent underperformance may be due to being fixated to the same stocks even when those companies have steamed off their growth acceleration pedals! Would love to hear your comments over it, thanks!
@shankarnathАй бұрын
Thanks! The point you've mentioned is factored in the query I used. Pls notice -- there's 1 year sales growth > 10, 3 year sales growth > 10, 5 year sales growth > 10 and the same for 7 & 10 years. Technically, the sales growth has to be 10% in all five blocks -- this should sufficiently cover the steam-off part you've referred to in your comment.

I heard about CCP or CCI for the first time and about the book too. By the way, loved the way analysis done to narrowed down to select 11 for 10 years or beyond. I am a long term investor in general and have some stocks since past 30 years in portfolio. SBI is one of them got through IPO in 1994. In my opinion, rather 10 years listing, their commercial operations must be on for 10 years. I would go for top 2 -3 companies in sector or industry if other criteria matches. Growth potential is more important than market cap between 1st & 2nd number in business as one day there can be changeover. Thanks Shankar for informative video.
