sir, thank you for providing such comprehensive information. Is it possible to apply two calendar of having different work timing like for office and field ? office calendar assign in task sheet(project information ribbon) and field calendar assign for resource sheet in MS project professional (MSO) 2016. I am doing as said above, but cost for assigned resource is not calculating as per field calendar of that resource.

Thanks Christian. Once again, is it possible to import a whole year Holliday calendar ? There is on the net some sites allowing us to download holiday calendars for specific countries. The downloaded calendar is in a standard file format. Thanks. Nessim

Hi Christian, when vacation days are added to a resource's calendar how should it affect the baseline? E.g. if a resource goes on an unplanned vacation amid his/her task.

Thank you for your question and for watching the video. The baseline is a reference to which we want to compare our project. So if someone takes unplanned holidays it will be reflected by a change in the planning. When you compare, for example with the tracking Gantt chart you should see a difference on the tasks assigned to this resource during the vacation time. How many days of vacation are there?

Hi Christian, I have a query. For a particular task there are 3 resources which are going to be used lets say resource 1, 2 and 3 and the duration of the task will take 5 days. But suppose among these three resources, resource 1 takes holiday for 5 days which is specified later on in the calendar whereas resource 2 and 3 will have their working days according to the same calendar. So how will it affect the duration of the particular task? Assumption log - The task will start from Monday onward. - Sundays and Saturdays are off.

@@sumeet_wilson non-effort-driven will not see any change on the task duration. What do you think for the other case?

@@vision6D The duration of the task will increase as the task which was supposed to be completed by three resources will use only two resources to complete the task. Correct me if i am wrong.

@@sumeet_wilson You are absolutely right. I needed a long time to understand that the key in that kind of question was whether the task was effort driven or non effort driven.

Hi Christian, I want to clarify one thing. I created one new calendar and validate to the project. Then the date changed automatically. But I checked the resource it's still on standard holiday. Then I tried to assign one resource to task and put new calendar to him, I found calendar changed twice if I assign more people to the same task. and put a new calendar to these people, then it changes more times. And another thing is if I remove all the new calendar and set standard one back to project. The dates won't change back to the Orginal one. Look forward to your reply.

Thanks for the interesting questions. First let me make sure we have the base. In MS Project you can have three kinds of calendar: - the general or company one (standard); - the project calendar; - the resource calendar. When you change the calendar and you apply it, do it on a single task or resource and check the result. This are exercises I do with students. The exercises I do are 1. Change the company calendar to have a holiday from Chrismas to new year. This affects the company calendar. 2. All the project team goes to a team building training. This affects the project calendar. 3. One resource takes one week of holiday. This affect the resource calendar. For each of those apply the change, check it, revert back, check the change and finally apply the change again and leave it. Without seeing what you have done is difficult for me, to be more specific. Hope this helps in giving you some directions.

Nice to hear from you and Morning! Ca va? :) What I have tested is Test 1 1. I created a new calendar named as holiday, then apply to project - calendar changed 2. I created additional holiday to a resource and assign one task to this resource - calendar not changed Test 2 1. I created a new calendar named as holiday, then apply to project - calendar changed 2. I assigned one task to one resource first then created additional holiday to this resource - calendar not changed Test 3 1. I created additional holiday to a resource and assign one task to this resource - calendar not changed Test 4 1. I assigned one task to one resource first then created additional holiday to this resource - calendar not changed

When you say calendar changed I guess it means that the task was shifted during the holiday? The only thing I can say is that those manipulations work. But my student have sometimes difficulties and then I need to review with them exactly what they did and clear up the misunderstanding. This I can't do in your case.
