Rod Smith, former Broncos WR cones to mind. No invite to the senior bowl, combine or other off season/pre draft activity. Undrafted, made it on Denver's practice squad. Kudos to Shanahan for not only keepin him but giving him that one shot. Rest is history. Couple pro bowls, 2 superbowl rings and every Bronco receiving record. He may not have the hall of fame numbers but considering everything hes done and accomplished as an undrafted commodity he deserves consideration. Phillip Lindsey is another undrafted guy who made waves his first season, lets see what he can do alongside Melvin Gordon this next year.

Some guys they miss:Priest Holmes, Tony Romo, Antonio Gates, Jeff Saturday, London Fletcher, James Harrison, John Randle, Kurt Warner, Kam, Brian Waters, Jason Peters, Rod Smith, Bo Jackson, TJ Who's your mama, Robert Mathis, Joe Horn, Matt Birk, Terrell Davis, Joe Montana, Shannon Sharpe, Marques Colston, Rodney Harrison, Jamal Anderson (the running back), Zach Thomas, Elvis Dumervil, Jahri Evans, Brandon Marshall, Hines Ward, Jason Taylor, Mike Vrabel, Derrick Mason, Brian Dawkins, Terrell Owens, Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, Steve Smith SR, Clinton Portis, Brian Westbrook, Jason Witten, Lance Brigg, Dan Koppen, Vincent Jackson, Antoine Bethea, Marshal Yanda, Geno Atkins, Jurrell Casey, Jason Kelce, Doug Baldwin, Bobby Wagner, Kelechi, Casey Hayward, Brandon Brooks, Nick Foles, TY Hilton, AJ Bouye, Jarvis Landry, Derrick Henry, Michael Thomas, Yannick, Tyree Hill, Jordan Howard, Cory Littleton, Courtland Sutton, Philip Lindsey, to name quite a lot. A lot of these guys were late round and undrafted. With the way how some of their career have turn out. Some are HOF and others are on their way to a HOF career if no serious injuries happen. Lamar was drafted in the first round at 32nd overall. Players that should be on this list should be undrafted or late round picks.
@guodade22392 жыл бұрын
Kurt Warner, for one, was never invited to the combine. Nor was the second-best quarterback in that 1994 class, Jeff Garcia, who was like Brees and Wilson viewed as too short (though he was taller than Brees or Wilson). Neither was drafted, but one cannot say they proved the draft scouts wrong because they were never examined (at least not seriously)! However, I do agree with you in focusing on later rounds or undrafted players. More than that, (almost) every list like these on KZbin is overwhelmingly focused on recent years. Bart Starr, for one, was overlooked for seventeen(!) rounds in 1956 because scouts thought he was too likely to go down with major injuries, but Starr played for fifteen years in the league.
