厳密にいうと終末ブームというのは95年ぐらいまでで、90年代後半というのは終末ブームというのはあまりなかったような… これはオウム事件等のカルト系の事件があって、映像関係ではオカルトが軒並み自主規制になったんですよ(あとソ連が崩壊したのも大きい)。 で、ゲーム業界で90年代後半にこのあたりの設定がよくあったのは、80年代～90年代初頭にオカルトブームに触れていた世代が、 『共通の世界観としてゲームに持ち込んできた』のと『エヴァブーム』が合体したから…といえます。 70年代末からの、ゾンビ、幻魔大戦、ノストラダムス、北斗の拳、孔雀王、帝都物語、サイレントメビウス、僕の地球を救って…あたりの終末ブームからオウム事件が生まれて、 その余波みたいなものがゲーム業界に間をおいて残っていました。ある意味ゲーム業界の終末モノは二次創作に近いです。 その余波の中から、型月や那須きのこが出てきて今に至るわけですが(一時期、スピリチュアル系とかではやってたけど 昔のオカルト小説やオカルト漫画は、作者も読者もガチのスピリチュアル信者みたいな人が結構いましたが最近は少ないですよね。 まあ、あの当時の残党は今では、自然食品や反原発、陰謀論まわりによくおられます。 ちなみに今生き残ってる斯界の一番の大物は…美輪明宏さんじゃないかなぁ…

The best part imo is the cut from the ending victorious music at the end to just silence and then quickly a gunshot. It really accents the sudden feeling of a suicide where it can seem to come from nowhere, even from very monetarily successful people. Great stuff.
