You can also bring small (like 8oz) bottles of regular milk on board for young toddlers. We flew with our daughter when she was 18 months old and brought some small bottles in our diaper bag since there weren't any beverage options after security (small airport) or on board (short flight). They had to swab it but the 8oz bottles were fine.

When my daughter was still on formula I had packed like 5 bottles with only 3 oz of water. The lady at TSA said next time just put it in a big water bottle if it's for your child they don't give you a hard time with it plus it saves a time not having to check all the bottles.

Tip number 6 - speaking from experience Do Not Pay the extra money! Just book your basic economy, then go to your ticket desk they will insure you are seated with your children. Never have I ever been told no. (I have a 1.5 year old and 4 year old) And if they did I would just say “okay then who is going to be responsible for my child’s safety?” It’s just not a thing, the people at the desk are always understanding. And hey if your kids don’t sit with you consider it free babysitting ….. jk of course.

I have searched Turkish Airlines website regarding having a stroller with a car seat attachment on top of the stroller. Basically the stroller holds the car seat as a two piece system. Do you think they will allow me to gate check both items before boarding the plane for free? My family has been telling me I will have to pay extra for the car seat attachment on top of the stroller. Baby is 1 year old.
@FamilyonStandby2 жыл бұрын
Nope, stroller and car seat can both be gate checked on the carriers we’ve flown. Never been charged a fee.

If you do not get a seat for your child under 2, do you gate check it? Do you recommend getting a stroller/car seat cover?
@FamilyonStandby4 жыл бұрын
Ya, totally. We gate check nearly every flight. And these bags are wonderful: amzn.to/2sJFhsD They fit the car seat/stroller nicely and have some handles for carrying and to attach your luggage tags. Plus they're so bright everyone sees them.
@Willsmay2 жыл бұрын
Are car seats required for children under 2 if they have their own seat? We won’t need a car seat at our destination and I wouldn’t know what to do with it once we arrived.

They are not. We've done both ways, though it's admittedly safer to have the carseat.

@WomanOfTheWomb2 жыл бұрын
@@FamilyonStandby I know this comment is 2 years old but.. when you say pick it up as you exit, is this in between connection flights or do you pick it up at the very end on your last flight?

@@WomanOfTheWomb There's no guarantee that it will be available to you in between. I saw another video lately by Summer Winter mom about her flight with twins. Her things had been forwarded to the destination already so she couldn't get them.

It depends on the airline, but generally... It's gate checked. Meaning you drop off and pick up on the jet bridge.
@FamilyonStandby2 жыл бұрын
That would be terrible. Just make sure you ask the gate agent doing the tagging. Let them know you want to pick up on jet bridge, not baggage claim.

I was curious about the formula, but what if I have pre-made formula that is no good after an hour of opening. Will they open it?
@FamilyonStandby2 жыл бұрын
They won’t open if fully sealed. If it’s open, they don’t touch the container. They’ll ask you to open the top and set it on the table. And then they’ll hold a test strip over. That’s it!

It’s pretty wide open, TSA just defines it as a reasonable amount for the length of the trip. No one has ever said anything, though, so take as much as needed. Just be prepared for potentially more in-depth security screeening.

If you do not get your carseat with you? how do you get from the airport to your hotel? I am trying to google the options - and I really don't get how people are traveling with infants?
@FamilyonStandby3 жыл бұрын
There are tons of options! You can take your car seat on the plane, you can check (or gate check) your car seat, you could leave your car seat and rent a car with them, or you can leave your car seat and rely on public transit. We either gate check our car seats or don't take them and rely on busses/trains. That one really depends on your destination. But if you have a pretty good idea of destination and what transportation will be like, it's super easy to not have to bring one!

Do you have any advice for a good "baby car seat cover" to make it easier to carry a baby car seat through the airport while keeping it clean from germs? Thank you very much! Thank you for this video!
@FamilyonStandby4 жыл бұрын
So, to be honest, we're usually not terribly concerned about the germs. We try to put kiddo in car seat when we get a seat for him. Otherwise, we use these red bags (amzn.to/2sJFhsD) to put the strollers and carseats in so they don't get lost when we gate check them.

@@FamilyonStandby thank you! I'll probably call ahead. I'll be on Delta and Southwest. I'll have a rental car there waiting for me. Someone told me to ask about renting a booster through the rental car place.
@FamilyonStandby4 жыл бұрын
I'd avoid renting it if you can, it's easy enough to bring a booster along. We checked out the airline booking rules and it looks like Delta and Southwest will let you bring the booster on if it's FAA approved. If you have a sticker that says "This restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft" then you can bring it aboard. If not, just ask to gate check and call it good. It'll be waiting for you at the gate when you arrive. Easy peasy.

Can I fly business class with two babies ? A toddler and an infant?
@FamilyonStandby2 жыл бұрын
If you’re a ticketed passenger, the answer is likely yes. That said, there are rules for number of infants/under 2 in a row and number of adults with them. So make sure you put the proper ages in when buying the tickets.

As long as you book both tickets on the same reservation and don't do something like Basic Economy, you should be good. Your grace snugride travel system... do you ticket booth check them or gate check them? Other than a car seat/stroller cover, I’m super antsy about them being thrown till wheels are falling off if checked at ticket counter.
@FamilyonStandby5 жыл бұрын
We're a bit of a different case because we TRY to get the extra seat to take the car seat. However, it usually doesn't happen. We gate check always. It's free, only slides down a ramp, and gets put in the cargo. That thing has gone through two different babies traveling the world. Another benefit of gate check: if you're carrying/wearing the baby, the stroller doubles as a baggage cart.

Nope - you'll have to get an infant-in-lap ticket at check-in. You won't get a seat for the carseat, so you'll have to check it either at check-in or at the gate. Some nice gate agents will see if there are open seats, but usually that's not the case.
