For all the foolish comments, talking about how it will break, etc. Well, just about any 1000+ hp car is going to break stuff, when you push the limits you must be willing to sacrifice. Every single car has its weak points, all it takes is to pinpoint, improve upon, and then wind up with an 1100hp monster. These cars had it coming for a long time, just because there are a few ratted out ones out there that had poorly done mods doesn't make it a bad car.

Its heavier than a turbo. Even a stock turbo s 991 would give it a run for the money. It all comes down to how you can use the power. The PDK can get the turbo to 60 in 2.6 sec.. on the Nurburgring I can guarantee the turbo would post better lap times

Hello All, this is my car i was tunnig at YOSOLO racing. Just wanted to thank Eric for all the help and the dyno use. Thanks for all the great comments. The engine is a 6g74 JDM block stroked with a 6g75 crank (first ever made). Cams were 272's and since this vid i upgraded to 280's. The 1168AWHP was 40 psi on pump E85! Trans is stock except a bell housing brace. Clutch is a RPS Carbon Carbon and Xfer case is billet. I plan on dynoing the car with the new cams, hopefully the car will break 1200 WHP..

my friend (the one in the supra). Yes, supra's are nice, but the vr4 (not saying that is better or worst) is a rarer car, and is way, way more technological car in the 90's. I have one since the day thay it went out.. its a 91 3000gt vr4 with 25.000 miles. I have bmw (s), audi (s), mercedes (s), i've drove evos, sti's... you name it... i dont know what is with the VR4... EVERY day a past by it... its just something special

It's a Twin turbo 6g74, bored and stroked to a 3.7 using 6g75 parts, with 6g75 MIVEC SOHC heads. very few engines like this exist, but they make insane power.

I drive a 92 3000gt vr4, I take it to car shows and I can tell you straight up, everyone says how badass these cars are and love the look of them. These cars are reliable, if you maintain it properly. Hell any car that someone lacks the maintenance on will break down too. It all depends on how you take care of your car.

actually when the VR4 first came out, it WAS the FASTEST out of the Supra, Skyline, RX7, etc. in a straight line, and on the track. so almost immidietly after, Nissan, Toyota, and Mazda reworked their cars with the new Generations (MK4, FD, R33/34, etc) The only thing Mitsubishi did to compete with it was up the power, and lighten it a little bit by taking off some of the extras, and that was enough for the VR4 to stay right up there. its not that its SUPER SLOW, just that its not very popular.

+Shiro The Forgotten Incorrect. Look at the rear pillar. 3000GT rear pillars come directly down behind the rear of the door window. Stealth's slope further backward and have a quarter window behind the door window, like you can see in the video in multiple instances.

I used to be in your position for like 6 years until february of last year, got me stealth rt, trust me it's fun to drive but finding certain parts for repair is a huge pain the butt, had to get a bushing for who knows what car and carve it so it resemble the oem bushings due to the fact it was discontinued and no where to be found, just do what I did, go to school get passing grades and find a job to show your responsible to own a car :)

Thanks for the clarification, I had a feeling it was a 74 block for fitment reasons. How did it end up being a 3.7 instead of a 3.8l though? I'd imagine it would be easier to just use off the shelf forged rods/pistons meant for a 6G75 if you bored the block to fit the bigger pistons. I believe the crank fits without issue and the blocks have the same deck height.

@Rednotch Stock trans is proven to handle this power level, it just needs a braced bellhousing and / or end case, upgraded output shaft and braced or upgraded transfer case housing. Those are the 3 main weak points of the trans.

I put aftermarket trubos on. The smaller one (24mm) is at roughly 14.3 PSI. The larger turbo (83mm) is pushing 27 PSI. Small turbo is so there is no turbo lag. I get boost off the line, but not so much boost that I burn the tires bald. Those idiots who do single-turbo conversions with turbos in the 80mm range are mindless. They have turbo lag until 5000rpm.

Those 6g72 engines are bloody strong, just make sure you change the rocker cove gasket . All you need is forged crankshaft holders to clamp it down then you could push it to 2000 bhp .

its a 6G74 jdm block, with the new generations of turbo chargers available in the market right now and with the emergence of the billet block and other billet components like crankshaft,piston rod, piston head and billet cylinder head, a custom made billet 6g72 or a 6g74 with a garrett gtx series compound turbo or twin turbo set up can have the potential to reach 5000 hp assuming the billet engine components are made to withstand 5000hp which is not impossible, people have seen proline v8 billet blocks handle 5000-6000hp.

depends on how much money you have to spend at buying a 3000gt you have to get a car that was well taken care of or you will spend more money fixing it. Another cool car to get would be a 300zx TT or none depending on the budget.

The VR-4's were 40 thousand dollar cars back in 1991 when the first came out., The topped out around 50+ in 1999 when they were discontinued. I had a 1993 as my first car when I was 16 (25 now) and then got a 1991 vr-4 when I was 18 with around 350hp. Awesome cars, lots of work though and always breaking down based on age.

Yes absolutely! They were highly regarded as the top import supercars from the 90's. They were made to compete with the Honda NSX (which is a damn fine machine ). I currently own a 1992 Stealth and it is a beast.

Michael Roberts Relax tough guy. I worked at Pampena motorsports in HS and have owned 3 3000gt's, 1 vr4. I know EXACTLY what 9bs run. Anything over 15psi is overworking the turbos and just blowing hot air. 15g + is when they become beasts. FYI I haven't owned a 3/S in 2 years. I drive an S4.

second gen VR4 and twin turbo is 6 speed, compared to 1st gen's 5 speed..1st gen's pop up headlights is replaced with projectors in the second gen and minor body alterations.

I know opinions are like assholes in their flying around here everywhere but in my opinion that 5-speed transmission had better legs than the 6-speed simply because of power transfer lost to the rear wheels. I would prefer a 6-speed straight front wheel drive you get more torque out of 18in than you do 36

Remember that is AWHP! For those saying the car is too heavy, you don't realize weight+sport suspension+the right tires= fucking loads of grip. The car makes up for it with 320 awhp bone stock. And they aren't difficult to get 500 out of...
