(1102) Review: Mad Bob's ZOMBIE Lock Pick Kit

This review is of the new Mad Bob's Zombie Lock Pick Kit, an unusual kit that comes with a very durable, hard case. The picks are typical Mad Bob's quality, meaning VERY high. The case, at least in my opinion, is of questionable utility and the kit seems a bit overpriced for my taste.

awesome video Bill, keep em coming!! You even inspired me to start picking locks, last week I had a buddy who had lost a key to a storage unit he hadn't been in for 9 years, and thanks to you sharing your expertise I was able to pick it open for him!! 😆🙇

year 2569, civilization is ruined. And there it is, one remote cabin in the desert, where the last man works on the last computer, using the last solar panel and makes intro no. 3299458881756 for the bosnianbill

Will we still have pickable locks in year 2569? The way we are going, future locks will probably end up being small computers with no physical access to the locking mechanism, and the key will be an encrypted token.

If sanding would expose the metal to rusting, wouldn't using the picks do the same thing as they rub against the pins and warding?

They don't sell the "zombie rake" separately. Not worth spending $60 to try one rake.. What do you think of that rake?

if you want to fit more picks, you would need to drill out the rivets, insert a spacer and re-rivet it or replace the rivets for bolt and nuts so you can take it apart and insert spacers as needed. Now, if the case was modular with the nuts and bolts straight out the box, I could see it being worth $60.

Great review as usual Bosnian Bill. Thanks for the info on the case. I like to have the option to cram more picks into a case, and you can't do that on this one. It does seem expensive for what you get.

Good review Bill keep up the good work. I love my ghost pro kit. It's my everyday carry. I added a couple Peterson's .018 picks to mine. I still need to get a praxis kit for at the house though. never know when you need some even thinner picks also.

I'd probably go with the Ghost Pro. Between a phone, a multi-tool and a flashlight, there's already enough junk on my belt. I get nervous during lightning storms. Something I can just slip into a cargo pocket seems preferable for my needs. (Most of the locks I have to pick are either Masters or the cheapest thing a contractor could find at a big box hardware store.)

Lock Pick Neophyte I would suggest looking into something like 1 of the Sentry kits from Sparrows if you are mainly looking for a "military inspired" type case. It has Molle on the back, comes with a malice clip, and can "hinge out" while on a vest for easier pick selection.

so I'm a new lockpicking enthusiast. just ordered a set of sparrows spirit picks, after watching a good seven+ hours of your videos. I don't know your email, so here is a question, why not make bump keys for locks using impression methods?
@Jmann147
@Jmann147 7 жыл бұрын
Bump keys use kinetic energy to bounce the pins to the shear line there's no advantage to trying to add finesse. Using the lowest cut works for pretty much any bumpable lock and can be prepared ahead of time. Impressioning can leave you with an almost perfect key that wouldn't need to be bumped rather simply turned or gently rocked.
@kristanrodrigues7705
@kristanrodrigues7705 7 жыл бұрын
Jmann147 I guess in the sense of speed of keymaking is where I was going. it would take a while to make a proper key using the impression method, but it would almost always work. but if you were in a pinch of time, say a repo guy or military like myself, and you need to make an impromptu bump key, couldn't you use impressioning as the first step?
@Jmann147
@Jmann147 7 жыл бұрын
You certainly could. However having a bump key with the lowest cuts will work just as well on that lock and any other of the same keyway.
