Really nice documentary. I don't speak Japanese, but I understood what the story conveyed. Beautiful photography, well edited, and interesting from start to finish. Truly a well produced documentary on a great fighter who was able to solve the dynamic kicking strategies of the top Russian fighter and bring back the World title to Japan.

Some of the comments regarding ground work and hitting to the face forget that just because some techniques are not allowed in tournament does not mean the fighting system doesn't have or use them or that in a real self defense / combat situation they would target the face and head. This man "Kiyama" is amazing. My art is TKD but I had to share the link to this video with my Korean instructor.

***** These are the days of the true keyboard warriors.. They think they know everything but do know shit. Spending their wired lives behind those little computer screens jerking off to UFC videos. They know jack about the Martial Way.
@chuckpagliuca42679 жыл бұрын
kleefgeest I agree. They have no clue as to the level of commitment needed to train to this level. If they did, they would show the proper respect.

+Chuck Pagliuca most UFC fighters have respect cause they're Martial artists but these computer wanks probably dont even train.The reality is that their UFC heroes would be disappointed in them
@dakentaijutsu20109 жыл бұрын
keyboard warriors man, that's all they're good for is talking #@$! behind a computer instead of training, or doing any kind of martial art, nothing more, I practice kyokushin (which I been at it for 2 months so far) and I have nothing but respect for these fighters!

My background is boxing. Later I took up Taekwondo. Trained with one friend who was a Muay Thai circuitfighter. Trained with another friend who was a professional body guard and a black belt in Kyokushin Karate.A quiet man but an awesome fighter. One thing I've learned about serious martial artists. They don't wastetime talking down other styles. They keep their eyes and ears open, respect other styles, and are willing tolearn. Never pass on an opportunity to upgrade your skills. If it works, who cares what it's called or where itcame from. If it doesn't work, the same applies. Respect is the cornerstone of the martial arts. Without respectwhat are we? A bunch of skilled thugs? More power to you. BB

the only way you can judge kyokushin is to actually fight one...try to block the shin...exchange body punch...I am a veteran of martial arts for 38 years..have 4th dan in shito ryu and 5th dan in kyokushin....started training in kyokushin since 1989....the supperiority of kyokushin is in *extreme tough bodies.*perfecting simple/effective techniques...and more than any thing *attitude in fighting...osu

Guys...those guys are two legends, just even tried to train or fight in their level? I think too much kids or people with no clue idea about combat in this post, serious people recognize those fighters, like Gracie, Kaman, Holyfield or any other serious fighter. Train hard and stop talking...!

I envy you, i wish there was a legitimate kyokushin school in my area of niles ohio, or even close to here :( The only "school" i can find anywhere near here is 20 minutes away, and it was an absolute joke, the type of school that gives karate a bad name. I hope to one day learn real kyokushin!

That's total bs. Lee was not the first, many styles especially karate and kyokushin even more so ARE MMA. Lee didn't have a clue about full contact fighting nor about mixing styles properly. He was not a fighter and not a high level martial artist. He was an action movie star with a big mouth and a few decent kicks. Comparing him with these guys is a grave insult to these real fighters.

Does anybody feel like it's really stupid that they don't let each other hit each other in the head with punches even though they allow kicks to the Head? And kicks to the Head are way more powerful then punches so it's not really an excuse to say that it's too dangerous to punch each other in the head.
@baubaul2 жыл бұрын
It’s been answered a thousand times. If they punch to the head fights will last 1 second. Kicking to the head it’s not as easy as you think even for flexible fighters so the chances to get serious injured are diminished.
@pedrogunzttenberg216312 жыл бұрын
You're talking nonsense! The power of 'punch' in karate is really strong, and you can not use them in competition. But in K-1, Shihan Francisco Filho knocked out big names in kickboxing and Muay Thai, many with only 2 or 6 punches ... Do not speak of what you know and go train!

I don't why they set up these rules, but obviously it's the sport version of kyokushin, where they teach how to spar, not self-defence
@mcpartridgeboy10 жыл бұрын
Polo9794 sparing is the best way to deend yourself, i you dont spar like i didnt you buckle under pressure ! its great to do martial arts for lots o reasons but if you want to defend yourself sparing is essential !
