The suspect would have likely slowed down before he hit that intersection, if the police hadn't chosen to chase him. It's just a fact. I'm sick of hearing law enforcement officials say that it is extremely dangerous for civilians to speed, but will chase someone for speeding, or a stolen vehicle, at speeds exceeding 140 mph, for miles and miles, and believe that their own speeding is not a hazard to the public. For a subject that has a kidnap victim in the car, or to chase a murder suspect, I can see it, but not for this. The kid lost his life over a BS chase, that should have been aborted. An Arkansas state trooper just killed a motorcyclist a short time ago, chasing a suspect at a high rate of speed. The poor man on the motorcycle never even saw it coming. And, a Sheriff's deputy t-boned and killed an elderly couple crossing an intersection, while chasing a suspect near my hometown, just this year. He was going 80 + in a 45 mph zone, in town traffic. In these cases, it's not worth it, and it's wrong.
