Hey @Midwest Wrestle at 2:12, there is a scramble, where red seems to have control established first, but green also seems to get a bit of control as well. Both athletes seem to be in a near fall position. Is there any scoring going on there? It seems like an extremely nuanced situation, and I'm very curious about what you have to say on the matter. What a great question! This is a tricky situation and one that I have officiated incorrectly a couple of times early on in my career. It would be even more difficult to call if they were in a neutral position before the scramble, but because red was in control, this is actually a lot easier to call than you might expect. The ruling here is that there cannot be a change of control as long as red's cradle remains locked. Any time two wrestlers are in near-fall criteria while one has already established control and maintains a cradle, the wrestler originally in control will earn the near-fall points regardless of any hold the opponent has on them. The only exception to this is a fall, meaning that if green were to adjust his body weight to force both of red's shoulders or scapulae to remain in contact with the mat for two full and continuous seconds, then green would win by "defensive fall" regardless of the fact that red never lost control.

Your camera work and editing are just as exceptional, and I'm glad that I found your channel!!! Most of the time, I can't tell what the athletes are doing. I can't see the hand fighting, leverage work, or anything that allows me to see, and try to intuit what is happening. But with the way you shoot the matches, it's so clear and obvious what's happening.
