Since MAN is connected to VW, and VW's (diesels) start insanely well in the cold, so you better love how it starts because in my opinion, vw diesels are the best cold starting engines.

Oil pan heater is what the duetz motor needs. Duetz motors are very very tight tolerance built and are specd to run extremely thin oil in normal Temps. That's why they crank so hard when that oil is cold.

YES!!! Never mix antifreeze’s ever!!! The The older tractors require a different kind than the newer ones… if mixed, it’s a disaster inside the motor. I put the new antifreeze in an older tractor, and it turned to a gel and took the head gasket out as the water couldn’t circulate.

for all the none diesel guys out there the glow pugs are threaded into the cylinder head like sparkplugs are. when they turn on the get cherry red like the heating element on your electric range in your kitchen hence the name glow plug which causes the air in the cylinders to get hot making it easy to start in cold weather.

Couple differing types of coolant nowadays... regular prestone (green), some purple stuff (I forget what it is, Bobcat uses it), OAT coolant (yellow), special orange (Ford uses it), and I think there's a red color one too but don't remember what its properties are...NONE can be mixed together or will have a very bad day. All thanks to mostly, you guessed it, emissions!!! Some of the newer coolants do have better wear protections, but that $$$ is nuts. I miss the $5 jug of full concentrate antifreeze.

MAN engine !! Fendt returns to MAN engines after years, Deutz engines were not a good part of Fendt tractors, despite low fuel consumption. Engine oil is also very important. 15w40 at such low temperatures is destructive for the system. Regards from Europe.

Had one of my tractors at a funeral yesterday -11C time to drive it home wouldn't start. Bring over the truck and jumper cables and fired off after 4 seconds of cranking those single big tractor batteries just can't provide enough power to sling a diesel engine over in the cold fast enough to start. I here the new 7 series fendt has a 7.5l agco engine wonder if that is any better.

Performing cold start tests as a job, this is quite impressive if it has been in the cold that long and after such a low initial temperature. Almost hard to believe imho. Too any times, I have seen failing batteries, paraffinated fuel lines and filters after such temperature soaks. Other failures are underperforming starter engines due to power, power line size,.... Smart to not start it up below let's say -20°C as your hydraulic pump(s) will suffer and might get damaged. I wouldn't have driven away that soon
