Thanks and yes, I was relieved to pretty much save it. I've now found with that mould that some spray mount on the back of the inlays works, otherwise for some reason they just dont stay put

Hi, sorry it didn't go to plan but pleased to see others who are more experienced than me also have things go wrong. It's good to see how you still make them work and not just ditch them. I have a big pile of things that did not go to plan 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks, yes I hate throwing things away. Some things, as long as they have fully cured, I use for testing things on, so there's always a pot of things made from leftovers and a few fails to hand for experiments. I don't tend to do a test run with a new technique before i make a video so what you see is often the first try so I'm learning as well. As my Mum would say - you're seeing it "warts and all"

aw thanks I'm glad you like it. And the fish - sometime I might do a long video of them so people can leave it on loop like a screensaver lol. The Angels are getting a bit feisty at the moment. I think they are reaching puberty and at least 1 of them is definitely turning out to be a boy. " Gabriel" the red headed koi angel is starting to stamp his authority. Maybe babies one day

I second the idea of sticking the leaves to something so they don’t get powder on the backs. And maybe give them a bit of a rub on a baby wipe. It turned out so nicely, and we had the bonus lesson on fixing boo-boos. 👍🏼

Your save is just fine. Where the edges might look a little ragged, you can just blame on nature. After all, when leaves fall, they start to wrinkle and change colour, which is what this looks like to me. Another great video , and many thanks .

When adding solids have you ever considered pouring a little bit of resin first? It helps me with bubbles and divots from bubbles.
@miniscenesgb
@miniscenesgb Жыл бұрын
Solids as in the sand? Yes I often do, just didn't want to with this one :) It does work, I do that with glitter, but as the sand is so heavy it drops and clears the bubbles pretty much anyway. Sometimes I run the resin through the Airless machine too. Bubbles in this project were acceptable anyway for this theme, the thing with the inlays was a nightmare though. However I now have a fix for that :)

I wonder if some spray glue or rubber glue on the inlays would hold them to the silicon mold and maybe not hurt the mold. The leaves look like short feathers to me. I love how it looks at the end. Thank you😊

Hi Tracey think you got mica under some of the stamps think that's why they lifted, topcoat are the best the cover alot, you could have warmed up the resin to help it come off the stamps easier, still a beautiful tray 😍 glad you were able to save it thanks for sharing ❤❤❤ xxx

I did wipe the back of them off camera though I might have missed one or two - but have since tried that mould with no mica at all and the same happened. I think it might just be one of those moulds that they just don't want to stick to :(

If you put your inlays on tape before dusting them it keeps the backs clean so they stick to the mold better

Just watching this as i'm about to try some stamps as inlays. I think your stamps might have lost their stickiness, it happens a lot to me when I use a stamp block while stamping with them so all you have to do is wash them with hot soapy water to get the stickiness back, then leave to air dry. If that doesn't work, I end up using a Zig pen that goes on blue then turns white when it's tacky so that might work when sticking to resin too. I got my Let's Resin silicone and had a go last night on a 3d embossing folder, it turned out well although a bit thin on one of the sides but I also made a mess trying to use it on rubber stamps, it didn't cure and just run off onto the tray so might have to try the rubber stamps by making a mould with clay. I have so many lovely Sheena Douglass stamps, they would have made beautiful inlays
@miniscenesgb
@miniscenesgb 8 ай бұрын
Great tips - they are silicone inlays not stamps though and they are very clingy, I've used them a lot since. It's VERY soft silicone. I think the mould is just getting old and isn't as shiny as it used to be :)

Have you used plastic inlays? I bought a bunch of stencils and they are plastic. I am worried I will create an u nretrievable mess. Good save today.
@miniscenesgb
@miniscenesgb Жыл бұрын
Not yet! However I think they might be difficult to remove. Silicone is so very soft so unless you have the disaster I had here they are easy to remove. Plastic is more rigid so might prove tricky. Not sure how easily resin unsticks from plastic generally either, night need to experiment with release spray. If you do it - would you share with us all here how it goes please?
