I do believe if someone, who had no authority to be chasing me, had a gun in my face or pointed at me, I might react by trying to push the gun away from me or take it. I’d be so scared and confused af. Survival ya know? Also, perhaps these men should have called the cops if they witnessed a crime (although I don’t recall there being evidence of a crime being committed by the young man…I think they suspected him of stealing, when the owner says nothing was stolen by the victim and others visit the property as well)…as opposed to hunting him down. I don’t believe they would have done so if he were white. Also, it is undeniable that they hate black people based on the evidence in the federal trial. That said, the fact remains that a mother lost her son and I empathize with her. I don’t like the race card, but I believe this particular situation was based on race. To answer the question as to why pursuit of the federal hate crimes conviction was so important if these eejits were going to jail for life anyway; It sets legal precedent. In future, if anyone commits this kind of racist attack again, if they have evidence of racist ideology then they can be charged easier and convicted easier because "State vs. McMichael & Bryant finds that these two factors constitute a hate crime" This isn't just justice for the family of Amaud Arbury, but justice for all future victims of racists.
@marybeth16442 жыл бұрын
At the time of Ahmaud’s murder Georgia had no hate crime laws on its books. They did pass hate crimes legislation after the murder but the new hate crime laws would not be able to be applied to the 3 racist killers. And the Civil rights division of the DOJ is responsible for prosecuting federal hate crimes. The Civil Rights Division was created at the same time as the 14th Amendment. This is WHY we have a Federal civil rights division. A country must take a stand to fight racism and hate crimes especially if the state where the crime occurred has no laws in place.

Have you ever heard about it? You've probably never heard about it, because this movement to demonize and incite racial hatred against White people is literally the most institutionally powerful racial hate movement in the world today - supported by the largest corporations, powerful government bodies, all manner of key nodes of power. It's the most institutionally powerful racial hate movement in the world today. There is no other way to describe it. Part of this racial hate movement is heavily emphasizing stories that make White people look bad, and skewing stories in such a way as to make the White people involved look as bad as possible; and give light coverage of other stories. It's far too consistent pattern to be an accident.

I am from Alabama and my family has been here generations and I never ever hear about white people hunting blacks down for no reason. As far as this trial goes, these guys just wanted to hold Arbery for the cops. No shots were fired until Arbery lunged for his gun. Your type of holier than thou self righteousness is why Southerners have little respect for Northern whites. How many Northern whites who turn their noses down at us actually live in areas that are anything other than 90% white? And why are so many blacks returning to the South if it is so bad down here? Stop lecturing us on a topic you know little about. For as much as you guys hate us you sure have a strange obsession with us and never want to let us do our own thing and live how we want to. I don’t mind blacks returning down here at all but I am sick of liberal whites moving down here trying to change us even though they hate us. Just leave us alone.

If they had not been White, it would have been rightly seen as self defense. They were chasing him because he had been committing a crime, not because of his race. Yea there were three key points I was zooming and analyzing videos for. When they showed the night owl video of Bryant’s residence as Arbery was running back and forth from the white truck, Bryant was outside and you see him go inside and come out. I tried so hard to see what he had in his hands but you couldn’t even see him get in the truck. His defense is he went to get his keys. Dammit hard to argue that. Then the first part of Bryants truck video where Arbery turned around to run back towards Bryant’s truck because “the white truck was up around the corner” his phone camera never picks it up, damn again. Definitely tried to look at that video to the last second to see if you can see a spec of white coming around that corner. And then final video coming up to the shooting just before when you hear the click in Bryant’s truck, his defense “he put his seatbelt on” omg TRUST ME Bryant was NOT putting his seatbelt on coming up to the scene to trap Arbery, who who do that knowing what’s about to take place based on what’s already happened? That was a distinct sound of a gun loading, but again hard to prove. Either way Bryant got life as well so he got what was coming to him.

I'm so pleased that they have been found guilty of hate crimes on top of murder. Ahmaud Arberry mother fought so hard for justice and she did it with such grace and respect. However there are so many more accountable in this. They may not have pulled the trigger or chased that poor young man but they played a huge part in what would have been covered up. The police when arrived made so many mistakes. If it had been a white boy killed by black offenders there wouldn't have been a trial because the police would have arrived guns blazing shooting on the spot. Yet they arrived didn't cuff them allowed them to walk around got them water and so on. They weren't even going to be arrested it was all going to be swept away because they had friends in high places. Thank god for the wanna be film producer who caught it all on camera bringing them all down including himself. A boy dead there are still too many out there walking free who should in some ways be held accountable. As Mrs Arberry said the police and DA didn't want this hate crime in court even guilty they tried to call the shots as to where they would do their time. Hard or soft by taking a plea deal. No the DA was forced to do the job the mother begged for it. How right she was when we see the filth that these men have sprouted online by their own hand. They have ruined so many lives but there are others who need to stand up and admit to errors they made. Whether that be the handling by the police or the cover up the DA tried to pull. My thoughts are with Ahmauds family.
