What happened to Laken is horrific. I'm a mother of a son but I have three nieces whom I adore and two of them are into running. I always encourage them to never run alone...always have someone with you. I beg other young girls to do the same. Do not run in areas like this alone. It's horrible that I have to say this but it's the world we live in and I don't want to see another girl become a victim and another family suffer a tragic loss. Be safe ladies and God bless!

I advised my neighbor, a young woman, not to run alone in the local park. I believe she just thought I was being silly. Until I told her a woman was murdered there a few years ago. Hope it made her be more cautious.
