Drake was the first mech I ever played and it'll always hold a special place in my heart. One of my buddies was a Fomorian Frame Lancaster with the Mule Harness, I had a Leviathan with Overpowered Caliber. we both had Bonded with each other. first turn, I mounted up and applied the Argonaut shield to my loyal steed. next round, I overcharged to spin up the leviathan, and the slaughter began.

This is practically Legion from Titanfall, with more gun than mech. It's about as subtle as a sledgehammer but as effective as one. Gotta love it.

I'd say drake is a great starting mech. At low levels, it's the best tank and burst damage you can get. As soon as you can grab some heat mitigation from a Genghis license and that one talent, it's nonstop death and area denial.

One thing that bugs me is that the design looks like a fish face. Like I know it's supposed to look like a zaku but the face plate is so asymmetrical I can't help but see the opening on the left a giant fish mouth and that it has an eye on the other side we don't see.

no, MULE Harness doesn't allow immobilized character to ride on.

Heavy Gunner if you're taking the Assault Cannon. Sadly doesn't work with the Leviathan.

They added House Guard more recently which for a drake is pretty fantastic, especially Argonaut shield. Borderline mandatory I'd say if you want to actually keep your allies safe in fact, as otherwise your allies needing to basically sniff your ass in order for you to protect them is a bit too restrictive: with even just one rank of HG that range increases to become way bigger, and all three lets you turn defending your allies with one of your shields into dealing damage and knocking an enemy prone for free. Pretty great stuff.
