Great review. I have the Control 14mm and the Jelly Bean 14mm. I have some weight on the Control and play very well with it. Love the pop and hand speed. I find myself playing with the naked JB14 lately. It’s lightning fast.

I believe the one thing that's hard for you to test is grit durability. Having said that, my Jelly Bean's grit showed more degradation in a week's worth of play than my Volair Mach 2 Forza's after 3 months. It could be I received a Jelly Bean with defective peel ply?!

Any Monarch Control owners also try either the Jelly Bean or All Court and have an opinion to share? I've been using the Control for 3 or 4 months and it's great but I saw another reviewer said this week that they are discontinuing it. I've been curious to try one of the others anyway, especially since when they were introduced pretty much all reviewers insisted the All Court and Jelly Bean were both better than the Control.

Thanks for the lead tape placement recommendation. I main the mach 2 forza 16 but keep pulling this one out and shelving it again. I have tried several different lead tape setups and didn't like them; But tonight tried your lead tape setup and after missing several drops with the Mach 2 I pulled this back out. I think it consistently hits drops better than the volair. A little slower hands, maybe a smidge worse ball placement (but that's only after playing with the jellybean a few times). Better dinking, much more power on drives and just overall better soft game than the mach 2. How do you think the jellybean 16 stacks up against your mach 2 16? I think the jellybean offers more without sacrificing control, whereas usually you have to make some tradeoffs.

I’m always having newer players or their spouses, parents, etc.. ask what’s a good paddle for newer players that’s under $100. Is this one that you all would recommend? I saw and appreciated Ignatowich video emphasizing in todays changing game playing with a paddle that has as much power as you can control, in part bc not good for beginners or midlevel players to take big tennis like swings with backswing and such. More errors there. better to begin with a paddle that makes you use good short form. I used to recommend super soft control paddles for beginners, but these days I’m rethinking. Considering all this, Is this jelly bean good solid middle of road in terms of has a little power, but not too much, under $100 recommendation for newer players?
@65atBestPB4 ай бұрын
I heard Ignatowich say that, … but seems the answer is actually “it depends?” - kid? - tennis player? - do you want them to acquire kitchen skills as highest early priority? - endpoint isn’t always defined by most power you can control, my wife likes some power assist, I want less power with my faster swing speed, we both come from tennis - baseline control doesn’t come from shortening swing through contact and follow through, but we can shorten backswing because we don’t need full body rotation like tennis. Guiding not good in golf swings, tennis swings and pickleball swings If that beginner starts watching these paddle reviews, doesn’t really matter … it will be a different paddle in 2 months. 😂

Why do you draw a distinction between "stability" and "the paddle being pushed around by the ball"? Isn't the definition of stability just a paddle's ability to resist being pushed around by the ball, whether by twisting from off-center shots or otherwise?
