Good commentary, cannot fault the US Cavalry Manual. I have rode in English saddles in my teens. Australian Stock Saddle in the outback of North Queensland, Australia. Slick fork, high back cantle in Nevada Buckeroo country. Sat on my hip pockets when I trained and competed in cutting. Other than cutting, posture is paramount. The same when dismounted. I subscribed, always been an old west aficionado.

Without your horse, you're an infantryman with bad marching boots.

It's equally important for the horse and the trooper to keep both of them healthy.

Driving West, but also anglesriding, I know exactly what's going on. However, were cavalry horses always excellent? American Stack has a completely different gait than Mustang or Apaloosa... I can see it on the example of horse breeds found in Poland. Greetings from Poland
