A two axle tanker could have been uprighted fully loaded without any issues because the tank itself is a lot stronger. This one was just more delicate because of thinner tank walls and the added weight from the milk and all the axles.
@Chopsltd7 күн бұрын
I put a loaded milk tanker on its side about 6 years ago during a snowstorm. To get the milk out of the trailer they took a plastic drum, cut it in half and put it under the lid. They opened the lid enough for the milk to start draining into the drum then get sucked out into the other trailer. Once in got below the point of the lid, they opened it up, stuck the hose in and sucked out the rest.

2:00 sweet cones. Come get my generator, it’s 28,000 watts 😂
@WilcoxGarageRecovery7 күн бұрын
We bought those after seeing them at the tow show in Baltimore. They are quite pricey, but we just don't have the room for traditional cones like we have in the 50 ton. I will say the wind seems to affect them quite a bit more than traditional traffic cones though. If we had your generator we could pump 2 tanks off at the same time 😂

A great job done by all! That was a big heavy one, sitting in the wrong part of the ditch too. This takes me back to my dairy days, I worked a milk and ice cream processing dairy. We'd get these shiny tankers in and it was mostly on the driver to off load the milk. This one new guy came in one day and got a bit distracted by something I guess. The pump vacuum crushed that tanker into scrap when he forgot to open the vent. I still remember the look on his face.
@WilcoxGarageRecovery7 күн бұрын
Thank you! Yeah, that would sure turn some heads....we stopped the pump a few different times and then timed how long it took for the milk to start leaking out of the lid again. We came to the conclusion it was vented good enough since it was pumping in the other tank slowly.

Lived on a dairy farm in southern Ohio and was a ODOT snow plow driver. Can't even imagine a 12,000 gallon milk truck. Now I see why everyone needs rotators. Remembering on route 33 when we had a double wide and a semi across it. Wait forever for a crane from Columbus.

With that many axles the whole outfit would only want to go straight! Hope you and Tad got your Christmas shopping done! Hope your Holidays were good! Take care be safe WG!
@WilcoxGarageRecovery7 күн бұрын
Im thinking it was all salvaged, per the conversation had on the other tanker that we recovered a couple weeks ago. If I remember correctly, every axle is a straight axle and when coming to a sharp turn the driver flips the switches in the cab to lift them, and then puts them back down after navigating the turn. Tad and I fortunately were able to get our shopping done 😂

There was indication of a fuel leak, so the cost of used fuel tanks is much less to the trucking/insurance company than environmental remediation.
