One Page Rules :) there system is great! not complicated for the sake of it, basic core rules are free advanced rules can be bought for like 5 bucks or go onto their pateron to get them with STLs each month and other goodies :) they have a sci fi and fantasy setting, mass battle or skirmish gameplay. Easy to learn, still very tactical and lots of fun :)

After Age of Sigmar my favorite game is Frostgrave. I've been playing those 2 games for the last 5 years and they are still my favorites. Rangers of Shadows deep is also an excellent solo/co-op game by the same author of Frostgrave and he recently released Stargrave. I've also enjoyed Relic Blade and Ragnarok: Heavy Metal combat. I'm excited for the release of 5 Parsecs From Home!

On 25 min you said the right thing. Instead of focusing on how bad GW is, focus on how good the small creators are and support them. And honestly I don't think GW is bad, but there is tons of talent out there. We only thought GW was the best only because it was the only thing out there really.

Not really skirmish scale, but I'd recommend Star Wars: Legion if you want something kinda similar to 40k but with a more streamlined rule. It's really intuitive, easy to pick up, have some cool and interesting mechanics plus it's cheaper than 40k to pick up.

Gaslands is great fun, rules are simple to learn but have a bit of depth, it's one of the more popular games at my gaming club and always produces at lot of laughs. It's not one to get too competitive with, just enjoy the carnage and mayhem. And it makes a change from the greed of GW - £13 for the rulebook is all you pay. Templates are in the rulebook for you to freely copy, or you can buy from third-party sellers, anyone can make them as they're royalty free. The cars are just any hotwheels cars you happen to have sitting around, you can modify them if you want to make them a bit more Mad Max, and you can use bits from the spares box for weapons etc. Recommend it.

@johnsteidl2932 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this! Had never heard of Burrows and Badgers. Couple I didn't see here or on your channel: Relicblade and Kings War: Vanguard for fantasy. Rangers of Shadow Deep is a solo campaign version of the Frostgrave rules. For designed-as-solo, Five Parsecs from Home is really brilliant. The skirmish rules are a light/tight core for what is really more of a solo RPG campaign engine. For solo fantasy there is Five Leagues from the Borderlands, and both of these are mini agnostic. Comparing Shadow Deep to the Five Parsecs/Leagues system for solo folks: SD is much more guided while 5P/L is more procedural. So you don't have to do as much creative work with SD, but it's more limited in scope/replay. 5P/L is pretty limitless in terms of where the campaigns can take you, but you need to do a little more work in creating your own story to match what the campaign engine is throwing at you. Cheers

@@tabletopskirmishgames Definitely! Godslayer appeared before Warcry, I do not know if before AOS, I do not remember. The engine is quite simple, there are few smart approaches and multiple options in list building. In case of Darklands you have a skirmish (battlereports available for both at youtube), with over 12 factions with huge amount of models to choose from, and ruleset that includes also a weather (the compendium was shared at Mierce Miniatures site years ago. @@tabletopskirmishgames and before I forget: despite a Mixed company History and a somewhat patchy Release schedule in the past, my favorite Tablet top wargame ist Dust 1947. Add is starbreach and grim dark future firefight if you want to use your existing gw models in an almost one to one way. Both a free. No need to boycott all of GW, just boycott Warhammer+. Everything they're currently doing is to force the fan base to subscribe to that service. GW are greedy and cannot accept that people are getting for free what they could charge you for. Game wise I'd recommend Grimdark Future by One Page Rules. All the fun of WH40k but with a less bloated set of rules. Plus you can still use all your existing GW minis or anything else you might own as it's a proxy miniature game.
