Jason, I LOVE the way you hum or sing as you play! I learnt guitar by singing over the chords when I taught myself. I agree with you, it is so important to sing or hum as you play. It also helps with learning the rhythms. My father used to play boogie-woogie and I grew up with it. I tried for years to learn but got too muddled up. Your lessons have helped me be successful already!! THANK YOU so much! ason, Can you PLEASE do a full backing track with the way you are teaching us, so we can accompany you all the way through Tore Down. THANKS!

That was excellent I’m a proficient guitarist so understand 12 bar blues structure well that was a very concise explanation. Almost. As long as I can remember I’ve wanted to play piano I suppose I gravitated to guitar because that was more readily available. However I’m finally going to get a basic piano keyboard and really start to learn to play piano. What could be better than learning the blues as a foundation instantly being able to play tunes very good lesson my friend

@@kilokalas2773 Hello Kilo! I love Sam Cooke also, but he is more soul than blues. See how well those genres go together? I feel once you learn these blues lessons, you will be able to play Sam Cooke's songs yourself! When you've got some of these lessons down, to a basic standard and you are able to play the bass line along with a bit of melody, try and play along to Sam Cooke! play the simple bass notes you need and pick out the tune, even with just a few notes to begin with. (changing the chords at the right time). If you need the chords, find them online or let me know and I can send them to you. And don't forget to sing or hum as you play the chords! I can play Sam Cooke on guitar, and the chords are so simple, just like most of the soul and blues songs It's the feeling we need when we play or sing. I would suggest keep trying and practising! Jason is a terrific teacher and singer.

Prince Kasunka, all that Jason is teaching with the initial steps are so necessary to learn, and you will be able to feel the blues enough to write your own songs, with just this knowledge. From there you can advance with the deeper theory if that's what you want, but playing by ear, and practising will help you improve enough to write blues songs. The best bluesmen played by ear, as it's all down to 'feel,' especially for the blues.

JASON, YOU ARE A FANTASTIC TEACHER AND BLUES SINGER! I am a country and blues singer, and I just KNEW you love the blues genre! You have that great feel for singing it, which many cannot! PLEASE SING MORE BLUES AND GIVE US MORE OF THAT? I post the lyrics for Tore Down, to help your students: "I'm Tore Down" I'm tore down, I'm almost level with the ground I'm tore down, I'm almost level with the ground Well, I feel like this when my baby can't be found I went to the river to jump in My baby showed up and said, "I will tell you when." Well, I'm tore down, I'm almost level with the ground Well, I feel like this when my baby can't be found I love you babe with all my heart and soul Love like mine will never grow old Love you in the morning and in the evening too Every time you leave me I get mad with you Well, I'm tore down, I'm almost level with the ground Well, I feel like this when my baby can't be found I love you baby with all my might Love like mine is out of sight I'll lie for you if you want me to I really don't believe that your love is true Well, I'm tore down, I'm almost level with the ground Well, I feel like this when my baby can't be found I'm tore down, I'm almost level with the ground Well, I'm tore down, I'm almost level with the ground Well, I feel like this when my baby can't be found

Thanks for sharing Donni! Yes! Even though I play a variety of genres, I love the Blues. Will focus on more!
