Black Orchid is truly a masterpiece of a fragrance. As i've already said other times, it is my favorite of all times. Tom Ford was obsessed with finding the darkest orchid flower in nature but since there are no black orchids, he wanted to create a fragrance that would resemble it so he asked Givaudan to create a Black Orchid accord exclusively for Tom Ford and he wanted it to smell like..... well...some intimate stuff.. It was a favorite of one of my favorite artists, Michael Jackson

I shall forgive you for not liking angel. It was my first fragrance as you probably know from 1992. I was 21. It got me through life when I was in montmartre hustling through life. Now though Guerlain probably is more my style. Have you tried soufflé de parfum intense version. Now that is a magical scent Great little video. 😀❤

Great choices! I think that Alien would also be a good addition to the list _ it is not my personal favourite but it's stood the test of time. One of my personal staples will always be NR white cube, Poudree is more popular but my heart belongs to the original🤍

Really interesting list-this must have been difficult to compile! Of course, Le Monstre has to be in there! I know you went for only one per house, so what made you pick Shalimar over, say, Jicky or Mitsouko? I would have also given a nod to Fracas and Opium

I think because I find Shalimar has a more rounder aspect nearly creamy and very sensual, whereas Mitsouko and Jicky got a more striking vintage tone, so I find Shalimar even more timeless! It crossed the era without ageing! Love opium indeed!

Perfume is far too personal and subjective for anyone to lay claim to any one or ten fragrances as being the best for all time. Btw..you did not mention Chanel *5 Premiere. Quite nice. Imho, Shalimar is awful. See! Vive la difference!
