Of course they WOULD stick on a happy Hollywood ending for the movie. Not only does the Lorax return, but during the first part of the end credits you can see the Onceler's little sapling grow to full size trees

@@worthybutter2004your right. Just because they’re bad, like the onc-ler isn’t evil, no, he just got lost in wanting money. For example, Ursula, she was a villain bc she wanted power. Unlike the onc-ler, she didn’t lose herself. She knew exactly what she was doing, while the onc-ler let greed take over. He lost the kind man he used to be.

My favorite difference was that only the Once-Ler’s arms were seen in the book and original cartoon, but they fully showed him in the 2012 film. I can also imagine myself grabbing Once-Ler and showing his face to the audience.

That kinda misses the point of the story, since the Once-ler not having a visible face means you project yourself onto him. We can all be the Once-ler and harm the environment if we’re not careful. Seeing him WITH a face loses that factor of the story.

Yeah, it sometimes confuses me when people say that the Once-ler is supposed to be a "bad guy". Because i'm pretty sure the intended message of Dr Seuss' story is "There isn't any bad guy. All of us play a part. And that we alone can make a change in ourselves and perhaps slightly better the world for tomorrow." And i do think the Once-ler somewhat redeems himself by giving the kid the last Truffula seed. But then again, it's weird how he gives to some random boy instead of y'know planting it himself. But hey, maybe it's cause he felt so ashamed of what he did to the ecosystem (and not listening to the Lorax) that didn't see himself as worthy of planting it, so he leaves it to the new generation to rectify his past mistakes. What do you guys think? 🤔
