As the good doctor pointed out, these could be bits of cotton wool from the Q-tips over the years. But yeah, if the result is more stick than cotton, it's time to visit the audiologist and tell him/her about your adventures with ear-cleaning.

It turns out even if you a genetically predisposed to excess earwax and the tip doesn't fall off the stick (in most people it doesn't) that little bit of earwax that comes with the cotton tip is just part of the wax and the qtip compacts much more was than it removes.

@brandimullins88135 жыл бұрын
That's why I always wet the q-tips. otherwise the dry fibrous cotton is like velcro to the sticky wax. Like putting honey on a cat lol. wet q-tips soften and loosen it up and keeps the cotton from sticking. then when you get the wax out, you can dry the clean canal with a dry q-tip when there's nothing for the cotton to stick to lol Gross explanation, but it works. Especially when you have cheap off brand swabs that like to peel apart.

Rhys just want to make a comment before I watch this video AGAIN! Just love it. As I know you’re aware, you have competition in this arena of earwax removal. And out of curiosity I’ve watched them, to see if they were as good as you. I will admit I enjoy Mr Neel Raithatha; he has a smooth technique and a calm voice. But I’m just consistently drawn back to you. Why? Well maybe it’s that we’re both Welsh Celts. A recognition of ancestry beneath the skin? I don’t know. But I do know that I smile when I hear your voice and smiles are not frequent in my life right now (I’m a new widow after a beautiful 38 year marriage). So when I see your easy smile and heartfelt joy in your work, I do smile. And the gentleness in your voice when you speak of Mrs B makes me remember wonderful days gone by. And yes, we do get to the earwax. I truly like seeing a nasty, wax filled ear with ugly dead skin become fresh and pink again. And your pride in a job well done comes through. And well you should feel pride because you really are the best of the best for so many reasons. Thank you!

I've used q-tips for my entire 25 years of life. So when I bought an endoscope to look inside my ears, I expected to see a lot of cotton and wax build-up. It was a bittersweet discovery to see absolutely NOTHING in my ear. Not even ear wax. My ear was perfectly clean and the weirdo inside of me was saddened by that 😂

I would say that was the most "frightening " ear clean so far ! How do you get sooo much cotton wool in such a small space 😱
@markib19595 жыл бұрын
How was all of that in there? How did the patient keep shoving more in there? So many questions... oh. Hey Rhys Barber!
@dixierae60635 жыл бұрын
I feel the same way you do Markie. My first question is why would the doctors continue to irrigate and prescribed drops. They have a magnified device you would think they would have seen that there was cotton in there. And it kills my curiosity trying to figure out how that cotton gets shoved in there to begin with. All I could think of was somebody picking up cotton ball with tweezers and going in their ear and somehow the cotton came off the tweezers and was stuck in the ear, but five times. But with that said why wouldn't they be able to pull it back out with tweezers. I'm so confused. I wish one day a patient like that would come into the comment section and we could ask away. LOL

@Jada Nichole I had so many questions too. Ive been told by several doctors to not even use qtips in my ears. But unfortunately I could see a few of my siblings being very vague with doctors, and not getting adequate care. So sad to see it took this long to get those ears taken care of, hopefully no permanent damage was done.

@charliefen70565 жыл бұрын
Laura Ellen Smith what I’m imagining happened is that maybe they put cotton wool in their ears to block out noise, maybe to get rid of wax (I know sometimes olive oil on a cotton wool ball is recommended) and it slipped too far inside to grab it. They then used a q-tip to try to get it out and maybe some got caught but not all. With the cheaper q-tips they don’t always come perfectly formed, so some coming off might not be noticeable. Then they just got frustrated I guess.
