I have never been more invested in a "foreign" policy issue. Though I am not from Ukraine, I firmly believe in the people of Ukraine to fight a just war. Ukraine impresses with its restraint and composure, while stunning with its audacity. Ukraine is more than a worthy military and economic partner for any international rules based society. How many countries can be listed that have taken on such odds on the open battlefield and succeeded? Truly, history is being written.
@debeichmann2362 жыл бұрын
I swear,that if you gave the Ukrainian people a tea cup,a screwdriver and a basket of nuts and bolts they could build something fit for battle. I am always amazed and inspired by their bravery,grit and ingenuity. Glory and victory for Ukraine!🇨🇦🇺🇦💋

There is only one thing i dont share in your opinion, and that is the ''just war'' statement. It is true that ukraine has the moral right to defend their country and people, but in my opinion, war is a catastrophe, both sides suffer, the only thing gained from this is for a terrorist country be weakened and ukraine gains the right to exist and be free. It is just too sad that a war needs to happen for these things to be stablished. Hopefully this madness ends soon...

@@SwErTiN777 You may want to temper your humor with the knowledge that (if you're Russian) your country is fucked for a generation because of this war. At the end of the day the west will not allow Russia to succeed in Ukraine.
@thenegociater33872 жыл бұрын
@@eltiobry3859 I understand your point of view and I too agree it is regrettable, but I believe what you describe is "tragedy". You state yourself that Ukraine has the moral right to defend itself. I posit that to be moral is to be just. In fact, you might say Ukraine is morally justified in defending itself. So what you describe is the tragedy of a just war. War is tragic no doubt. I would venture to say it is the tragic circumstance of being attacked without provocation which is the basis of its moral justification. This is as justified of a war of self defense as one can have in reality. But in the end its all semantics. Or is it? Sometimes the rules of humans need to be tested on the battlefield because rhetoric is cheap. When pushed, Ukraine decided to continue the debate on the battlefield. These are when moral positions are truly proven. Morals are nothing if not backed up by action. Morality informs restraint and measured action over vengeance and fury. I think Ukraine has demonstrated both of these plentifully and dearly. In short, I believe war is justified very rarely. It is only a just war if it serves to reiterate or establish moral justification. I believe Ukraine is doing just that, and justly so. I respect your opinion though

While this might be true, assaulting a shopping mall isn't exactly Ukraine's style. Not a military site, no obvious narrative. There are other options: - Ordinary criminals which released them selfs from prison by joining Wagner PMC for a couple of days. - Local partisans not for Ukraine, but for Russia. - No assault at all, just an accumulation of three fires by coincidence. - Putin trying to create a narrative for full mobilisation or something similar.

Whenever Russians retreated during Ukrainian counteroffensives some Russians or russophiles referred to field marshal Kutuzov's forced retreat/defense-in-depth strategy during Napoléon's invasion of Russia and reminded how that war ended.
