Essential oils are flammable, some oils have a flashpoint of about 102Fto 130F. Running a dryer on low usually is about 125F, medium to high is 135F. So though it is unlikely, think of this- Kerosene has a flashpoint of 115F on clothes. A better way to help make bedding smell good is to put a cotton round or natural fiber with essential oils on it and place it near where you store your bedding. Love you Kiva, I just want to make sure people are safe and know the risks. ❤️

Oh, this is similar to what everyone in my country does. Everyone has tile floors. Wash however and then wet a cloth with your favorite liquid fabric softener and do over all the floors. Hi Kiva, Please check with your veterinarian before using essential oils, they can be toxic to pets. I got rid of all my diffusers for this reason. Also, I stopped using all fabric softener/dryer sheets because they leave a film on fabrics which keeps them from being absorbent, especially bad for towels & athletic clothing. I use vinegar instead, the smell does not linger once the items have dried.
@TamarLitvot3 жыл бұрын
I started adding white vinegar to my washing machine (in the softener compartment) and I’m amazed at how much better my clothes smell and my washing machine smells. Not like vinegar, just clean. Also, I stopped using dryer sheets years ago for the reasons you mention and because they’re bad for the environment. I use the wool balls

@@karenkeefe2160 Oh no, how scary. I have heard several stories of people coming home to very lethargic, sick pets only to find out it was from essential oils. I asked my vet if any of the oils were safe, he doesn't recommend any of them around animals.
@brooklynqueen70892 жыл бұрын
Yes, I also switched to white vinegar for the wash and dryer balls with lavender and sometimes peppermint on dryer balls. I was told that some essential oils are actually calming and recommended for dogs. Lavender is one of them. Pine and yang-ylang and a few others are not good for pets.

Some of these tips are sadly a huge no-no if you have birds too, they're especially sensitive to any kinds of odors. We keep our house smelling nice by making sure to air things out regularly and sometimes putting a pot on the stove with some aromatics (cinnamon, lemon peel, etc).

I'd definitely add when it comes to trashcans (especially kitchen trash) to clean them sometimes. Doesn't need to happen everytime you take the trash out but overtime the trashcan itself can start to develop a smell from having trash in it so even when the bags empty there's still a stench. When needed I give it a good rinse, put some nice smelling cleaner in with water to let it soak, then rinse it again and let dry, really makes a difference.
@emilyhatch14313 жыл бұрын
THIS!! I also add a couple drops of essential oil into the trash bag.
@omen84913 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! We also put a layer of salt on the bottom of our kitchen trashcans. It soaks up any disgusting garbage juice, kills off bacteria that produce bad odors, and can be easily changed without having to clean the whole trashcan. It's like cat litter for your trash!
@sdeaglefeather3 жыл бұрын
Definitely. Also use smaller trash cans and only put non smelly stuff in there, like recyclables, the stinky stuff can be stored in fridge in something like a 2 qt water pitcher lined with a bag from the produce department. When it gets full you just throw it into the trash bin. I usually put the mess that meat comes in, that styrofoam thing, back in the freezer until garbage day.

I’m normally not a big comment person but I’ve got a lot to say today 🤣 Great idea on the essential oils on the wool balls. . I like the dryer idea with lavender Washing Machine: Our front loader washing machine is a NON-stop problem. We keep it open and it still gets moldy and musty smelling. I clean that dang thing constantly 🤦🏼♀️ I will never own a front loader again due to this issue. Candles: Thanks for the candle company recommendation. I often buy candles that smell so good but never give off a great scent. My best luck has been Yankee Candles little candle tarts. Air Filter: I often spray some BBW Home fragrance in my air filter as it’s running. It makes the whole house smell amazing. Dissipates rather quickly though. Simmer pot: What I just started doing is mixing water with liquid fabric softener. It makes my house smell SO FRESH! Garbage disposal: I have a juicer and sometimes I juice extra lemons before they go bad. I put the juice in an old fashioned ice cube tray to freeze, put them in a zipper bag and pop one in the disposal as needed. They aren’t as hard as ice and have worked well for me. Sachets: Instead of sachets, I put a dryer sheet in my trash and in every single clothing drawer 👍🏼 Thanks for your videos. I enjoy them a lot ❤️

While plants are good to have in your home you would actually need around 10 plants per square meter for it to actually have an effect on air quality, and plants also use respiration (they use up oxygen and produce carbon dioxide) when it’s dark. So if you want cleaner air you would be better of with an air purifier. But plants are really good for your mental health. If you have a lot of plants you produce a green environment which will boost your happiness. So plants are good, just not for improving the air quality in your home :)

WARNING RE PAINT WITH SCENT: Do not use the scent-added paint in any room that has high humidity, like your bathrooms. That scent additive will leak out in the humid air, and leave drips down your walls that you can see. If you have wainscoting or any kind of ledge, that stuff will collect and be a sticky yellow substance.

Well, for me, the best smelling home is one that isn't permeated by candle or other scents but one that smells like nothing. Nada. Just fresh air. So I do things like run an air purifier and wash my window AC filter every two weeks and keep the windows open when it isn't freezing out. I would like to find the perfect candle for my bathroom but I haven't found it yet. If it's too potent, a candle in the bathroom will literally fragrance my entire apartment, and that will only annoy me and make me sneeze. I bought what was supposed to be a scent neutralizer for the bathroom but it smelled worse than the stinks it was covering up!

Have you tried the capri blue essential oil from Amazon yet ? I’ve been wanting to buy it. But I don’t know if it’s worth it and it’s pricey for an essential oil . 🤔
