Great video. Only correction that I want to stress is when trying to speak in Thai. When using the end 'kha and 'krab at the end of phrases, which makes what your saying more formal and polite, is actually NOT dependent on who you're talking TO, rather who you ARE. For example, men should only end their phrases in krab. And all women will end the phrases they are speaking in kha. Small correction, but important one!

I think saying hello in Thai is "Sawasdee" and the last part depends on whether you are a man or woman. For example, "Sawasdee khrap" would be said by a man to anyone male or female, while "Sawasdee kha" would be what a woman would say to anyone. The video seems to suggest a person says "khrap" to a man and "kha" to a woman, and I think that's incorrect. Thanks for the video.
@nois1111 Жыл бұрын
If you are a male you say " Krub" at the end of the sentence to show the politeness and if you are a female you say "Kha" instead of "Krub". The word "Krub or Kha" also means "yes" when you use it alone to respond to a question.
@ErikBlair Жыл бұрын
Yes, that's what I thought.

As a former exchange student, yes, the polite word is “ Kraap” for men, and “kha” for women/girls.
@peterx616 ай бұрын
To western ears, the male polite word doesn’t sound like “krub”, more like “kraap”.

Hey mate. Nice video, but you should probably know that when you speak Thai, you add "Khrap" when you ARE a man, not when you are speaking to one. Likewise, when you are a female (or a Ladyboy haha) you say "Kaaa" very sweetly at the end. No wonder you got smiles!!!! You're welcome, from an Australian who has been speaking the language for 30+ years. :)

Hi Alex, this is so random but would you and Carrie ever consider going to Lord Howe Island? You'd make such an amazing video from there!! I've noticed there aren't really any super quality videos from there. I've heard it's an extremely expensive place to visit, but you only need a few days there so it's a nice little escape to get away for relaxation or whatever. I need to make a small correction here: you do not need to say Ka if you're speaking to a woman and krub to speak to men. Generally Men say Khab when speaking in general to everyone and women say Ka to speak to everyone. it's just a politeness thing they use at the end of sentences.

Hi. great Vid. I have been to Thailand a few times , mostly Pre Covid. As an American I am used to living on plastic. Very uncomfortable walking around with pockets full of cash. The hotel room safes are a joke. I seemed to always need a lot of cash there but felt unsafe carrying all of the money I brought around in my pockets. what do tourists do to keep their travel money safe?

It is not working like , SIR or Madam in English. 2. About recent king pics in tank top , that are the photo shop pics , you shouldn’t present in the media , you can face legal action about wrong represent info to the media. As a male you always say krap at the end. Also, if the other person is younger than you, or of a lesser social standing, you dont have to say it at all. Dont hug/kiss in temples or religious ruins...very disrespectful. As is showing/pointing the feet to the religious statues.

While this is a very interesting video with lots of useful information and details about Thailand, I'm checking the comments for the ครับ / ค่ะ scandal right after he explained that in the video, lololol. If you don't read Thai, I'm referring to the detail about saying khráp/khâ at the end for politeness. He doesn't sound fluent in Thai, so it's cool, an honest mistake, and a quirky and humorous one at that 🧋🌺🌈
