Thank you for recognizing that, as long as the kitchen is reset at some point every day, it will be nicely maintained. I make it a priority (to get the dishes caught up, counters/stovetop wiped, etc.) after I eat breakfast, when my energy is good and there's plenty of daylight. I try to do 1 extra cleaning task in the kitchen and 1 in the bathroom each weekday so they get fully cleaned throughout the week. Chronic illness/pain/fatigue doesn't allow for multiple bathrooms to be cleaned in a day.

Just found this channel. One thing that helps me: listen to a favorite podcast or listen to a book especially when cleaning the kitchen. I know it’s a silly thing, but it gives me something to look forward to -especially if it’s a mystery.

This video reminds me in a good way of household tips I would read in Good Housekeeping when first married years ago. One that stuck with me was to clean from top down. That is dust light fixture then surfaces, then vacuum. They also mentioned always take something with,you when going up or down the stairs. We have always used one cup each for the day. However when hubby’s cousins visit they get a new one out every time they get a drink! Then tell me I need to do the dishes more often. I explain how I just use one as they are pulling out yet another cup" 😂 I do the bath in shifts also, but not necessarily on the same day. All mirrors get wiped on one day. Another day all the sinks are down and so,forth. I do not use a set cleaning schedule since it makes it seem more like work to me. I do things spontaneously. Makes it fun. I seldom have anything to throw out in the fridge, but do tidy it up before shopping. I tidy the kitchen most nights, but do not close it. Anyone is free to get whatever they like at any hour. Just put any dishes in the sink. I love my air purifier. It has really made a difference In comfort. ❤

Awesome, thank you so much! You should hide all of your cups when they come over haha, just kidding! ❤

Good idea to do laundry one day a week. The big but, our towns electricity goes out frequently. And when your washer breaks and you wait three weeks for it to be fixed. I gave up and wash every day after this happened so I don't get caught with a pile of dirty clothes live your practical advice.

Thanks Taryn! I agree with your ideas. I use one cup all day, clean it, utensils too. That dishwasher fills up too quickly!

We live in a split level home so I allocate one day a week for each of the three levels. I clean everything on one level on its assigned day. Once a month I do a big clean of each level, dusting down the walls and baseboards, moving furniture away from the walls to clean behind and under, etc. and every three months or so it’s extreme big clean doing windows, blinds, ceiling fans, etc. We have an Australian Shepherd so I need to vacuum the whole house every day. Thankfully we have LVP (no wall to wall carpet in any rooms) so it’s easy enough and our kitchen gets attention every day as well. I’m a big fan of cleaning as I cook.

All good tips! I do all of them since years!... except the "house filter" thing.. that is only in American homes. We don't have/need that in European houses. I have a cover on our sofa for us..I throw it in wash every weekend. I have 2 on rotation, so a clean one goes straight back on. Washing I do over 2 days because I air dry.

This might be too extreme for some people. My brother has four kids between the ages of 5 and 10, and he has a system where each child has their own specific plate, bowl, cup, and knife, fork & spoon. The kids are all responsible for their own stuff. They can either wash their dishes right after they use them, or they can leave it in the sink and wash them later. But either way they have to take care of their own things. If any of the kids try to cheat and use someone else's plate, bowl, or silverware, it's immediately apparent to everyone that they are not using their own stuff. For laundry each kid has their own distinct laundry basket in their room. My brother does each child's laundry separately and then returns the clean laundry and basket to the room for the kid to fold and put away. Two of his kids love this system, two of his kids hate this system.

Fairly new here, thanks for the helpful tips and the time you spend to tape them for us! And I have to say I love your colorful Mexican-style (Fiesta?) dishes. Not exactly sure what the Landing Pad would look like. Is it on the counter or on the floor? Why is stuff on the floor a "threat" - do I feel like it is going to attack me, trip me, make the room smaller, or what? Why is it a "threat" to you, Taryn? Also, you say you tape 2x/week --- do the recording days vary?
@tarynmaria_8 ай бұрын
Yes - I have the Fiesta dishes - we love them! For the landing pad - it could be wherever you want! I read somewhere that things on the floor are perceived as a threat - something to do with human nature and humans being hardwired to being aware of obstacles and danger?! And yes - the videos vary but all on home content :)

Every use of sink I quickly wipe down faucets edges of sink with microfiber cloth that is attached to side of sink with a command hook. Keeps it looking good until cleaning day.

When I'm getting ready in the bathroom in the morning, I always quickly clean one thing. It could be a quick swish and wipe of the toilet or mirrors or counter. Pick whatever needs attention.

I keep clorox wipes under the sink in the bathrooms and use them once a day to freshen up the counters,faucet, and sink. I can also use them if the mirror is too gross to look at but I don’t want to get the sprayer and just dry it with a paper towel. Oh, I have a paper towel holder hanging in each bathroom for any icky clean ups that are needed. In the kitchen I keep a sprayer with a combo of isopropyl alcohol, water, and a drop or so of dawn liquid soap and microfiber cloths to quickly clean and shine my appliances. It is so much easier and faster to use than the stuff made for stainless steel which usually involves a lot of extra wiping and/or cloths. It is also good for quickly cleaning off cabinet handles, light switches, and outlets (*spray onto cloth, not the switch or outlets).

If I’m watching a movie on tv, I get up during each commercial break and put away 3 things that are lying around. I never run out of things to put away, but this system helps my house from sinking into a complete mess.

My suggestion is sort of line with your last point. Nobody likes a cleaning that drags out for hours and hours. So set a time for 15 minutes and clean whatever you can and make sure you stop once the 15 minutes are up. Anything you do now Is that much less you need to do later.

Yes! I did a 15 minute closet declutter today and feel like I accomplished a lot!

Sooo, you don't have a dog, and you dogsit other people's dogs? Sorry, but that is not the same as having your own dog. Also, I noticed you dogsit huge dogs. Why not just get a small dog that can be a family member. Also, you can teach your kids responsibility. Also, I've heard poodles don't shed- win-win.

That's the point. You have the benefits of owning an animal like cuddles and walking without the disadvantages like having to look after the dog 24/7, having to take him to your vacation, having to take him to the vet, ...
@KayL63035 ай бұрын
@tarynmaria_ I think your dog-sitting plan versus owning a dog is a GREAT idea. I will recommend this idea to others.
