My mom thought me two rules for cleaning: top to bottom and dry to wet. If you wet wipe your bathroom sink and then dry dust from the cabinets above all the dust is going to stick to your clean, wet sink and look even worse. Such basics but a great point to start, especially if you have to deal with a big mess and don't know where to start :) And I do really follow the low maintenance rule for decor/furniture/clothes/etc 😅 if something feels like a pain to clean I am not buying it 🚫 there are so many options on the market for different things that I can always find something that I like that is also easy to maintain clean
@wolfc875510 ай бұрын
Top to bottom works for everything EXCEPT when it comes to washing walls. If you start at the top of a wall and soapy wash water runs down onto the still unwashed wall below, it can create a lighter colored streak that you will almost never be able to get the wall around it to match, no matter how hard you scrub (it sounds weird I know) So walls should always be washed from bottom to top so that any dripping wash water doesn't leave a permanent, lighter colored streak. 😊😊

I recently put cleaning under self care. Rather then chores. Perfect!!! Now I do it!!! Make life easier!
@Shinnzo13575 ай бұрын
One thing to add, do it whole you have something else working. Like... do laundry, and then do some dusting. Turn on the rice cooker and then vacuum. The act of doing 2 things at once makes you feel like, you're getting more done when in reality you aren't. Even for me, I play builder automation games where I set it, walk away and do cleaning, come back, check on it, and continue. Those games often don't always need you to be present as there is some wait time so it's nice.

I'm honest. I use the duster 1-2 times a week. all furniture, all surfaces. Computers, decorations, stairs and banisters. Pictures, lamps. decorative strips. Baseboards. Really everything! I have an extendable and also several normal ones. There is one in every car that you can use to clean quickly. I only wet wipe the surfaces if they are dirty with liquids or something similar. In most cases it's just dust. Just don't shake it, just wipe it up slowly, then you really need a lot less time to clean the house.

As a monotasker, I find it easier to run a marathon instead of doing a little each day. I struggle with stopping tasks and switching to new ones. Whenever I’ve tried to do a little each day I’ve accidentally ended up running marathons! Now I know how to plan around my strengths. I have enough clothing to last a whole month without washing and I rinse and stack the dishes to load all at once on the weekend. It doesn’t work with everything, but it definitely helps to not have to worry about doing those things everyday and possibly overdoing it.
@lovefortruth34145 ай бұрын
I'm the opposite. While I get frustrated when I can't just complete one task, I get distracted easily. And, alot of the dsaly things repeat throughout the day...alot...so, I do better if I break non-dailies into much smaller chunks, and do no more than 3 of those smaller tasks per day, deoending on how lobg each smaller task takes, and squeeze them in while I'm working on one of the kazillion dailies. I also make sure that 2 days a week (weekend or whatever), I only do the daily tasks, to give myself a lighter load on those days.

It reminds me of my Dad waking up early and doing his tai chi, I’m eating cream of wheat/soy egg subtitles almost muted scooby doo before school with fresh air smell from the open doors. I have no other description for it 😅. Peaceful morning with fresh air. It’s crisp, modern, minimal but it still does feel natural, realistic and lived in. Rule number 9 is so important!!💖 Although I always considered myself a messy person, since I moved into my own flat it's my fave activity. I usually clean on Fridays because I dont have university on that day so I dont have any other responsibilities except for cleaning on that day and it's so cozy. I put on some YT videos in the background, usually clean-with-me videos, open a candle or incense stick and make myself a huge cup of tea. Looking forward to this day the whole week. 😻

I definitely like re-usable cleaning items. I’ve been convicted about how much single-use trash we produce as a society and filling up our land fills that will never degrade. By the way, earbuds can damage your hearing because our ears were not meant to have sound waves directed straight onto our eardrums, especially if you listen to music louder than the bare minimum. It is better to have the music on a speaker so the pinna of your ear can dampen the damaging sound waves.

@PoeticAmmunition. house shoes...good, supportive house shoes...ones that are easy to slip into and out of as needed.They support your back and joints while you work, and act as a kind of buffer from banging your feet and toes. The key is, they are only for in the house, so they will not track outside dirt and grime into the house. Trust me. After years of wear and tear on my body, I finally gave in and got myself good house shoes. My back, joints, and toes, thank me for it. Our safety while cooking and cleaning in our house is just as important as it would be if we were working out at the gym or running in the park..or if we had a physically demanding job outside the home. Of course I give my feet time to breathe y taking my house shoes off when I'm taking breaks from running around the house
