I knew Pierre Henry before Futurama because some parts of his songs were played in my city's Tramway... (For example, the bit that was sampled in Futurama was playing when we stopped in the city centre)

It isn't a direct sample, as the instruments were recorded specifically for the Futurama theme (including the tubular bells), but it does have the melodies and chords and whatnot.

@@verylovejoejonas So, because Bittersweet Symphony used the Rolling Stones cover of "The Last Time" as a sample, the Rolling Stones were credited to the song and were given all royalties attributed to the song, this only changed back in april 2019 when rights were given back to The Verve by the Rolling Stones.

For the Millenium string "sample" the strings were actually re-recorded as Williams' team didn't want to pay full wack. The record label, Chrysalis Records, discovered that a new recording would cost only one-tenth of the licensing fee that would be required to sample "You Only Live Twice", so they asked for a new string section that still acted as a recognisable pastiche of the song. So not actually a sample

Samples have to be cleared before you release your song. Yeah you could just release it without clearing but in this day and age where it is so easy to find stolen music, I doubt many musicians would take the risk.

I first heard Moby's Porcelain in some commercial for expensive liquor. I knew right away the strings were sampled because they're audibly reversed (listen to the abrupt stop at the end of each chord), but until today, I never knew where the sample came from. I was never a big fan of Moby, but Play is a spellbinding album that everyone should check out.

Brenda Russell - A Little Bit of Love is also sampled by Big Pun I’m Still Not a Player. Just love the way that it’s sampled on that track!

0:07 Music does not sample Never Young Again. It is indeed very similar. They say Madonna wrote Music based on snippets of Never Young Again that Mirwais sent her.

It's really eye opening to see how many artist are really doing this stuff. I wanna thank you for making these awsome videos. I am sure you could easily do another one, with all the samples floating around out there. I have been working on a playlist here on youtube for some time, so I have some you could perhaps put in your next video. I am sure these 'Hit songs and their samples'-videos will be greatly popular, so take the ones you need.

Gotta love the nerve of the labels behind some of these tracks...they have a hit song that borrows heavily from another track and then the label habe the audacity to copystrike you for including a sample of their track in your video!!!
