I understand the disappointment of losing a big fish after a long fight, but I find it much more engaging to watch content that accurately represents real fishing. It gets so boring watching creators reel in awesome fish in every single video. Watching someone not catch anything or lose good fish makes the moments of success much more exciting and enjoyable, just like fishing itself. If we caught dream fish every time we went out, it would become boring! Keep up the great work, Luke! Your fans from Victoria miss you!

Hi Luke, I cringe every time you tighten the drag while fighting a fish. Set the drag correctly once and start fishing. If it runs, do not panic… let it run and tire. This is why you are breaking lines and pulling hooks. If you are always getting spooled you simply need bigger gear. Get a couple of TLD20’s on trolling rods for the big Spaniards etc. Finally, operate the motor as a last resort. It is a distraction from fighting the fish and you run the risk of cutting the line on the prop or the direction of the boat actually working against you. Once hooked up and fighting the fish, kill the motor and focus on that fish and nothing else.

Hey Luke awesome vid bro! When I’m out fishing in nz, I usually run 80lb braid cause it’s still quite thin & a 50lb fluorocarbon leader when I’m trolling, and I attach the 2 with a swivel because I don’t know how to tie an fg…. On the same swivel setup without re-tying once, I’ve caught 12 decent albacore tuna including a 24 pounder. That rig has never let me down, have never dropped a fish on it. Good luck my bro !!!

Damn that was an unlucky loss on a few big fish. Just to let you know that if you tighten your drag too much, it may put too much pressure on the placement of where the hook is in the fishes mouth and pull hooks, and it can put pressure on your knots which will make them more likely to fail. Good going out there Luke, caught some nice fish and got some good hits 👍

Luke, it looks like you’re not tightening your fg’s properly. An fg shouldn’t give out like that! Try and use some cylindrical knot tighteners. The braid should go clear on the leader because it’s so tight, and ‘bite’ into the leader.

@@lukefalzon if you are heading down to Perth you should definitely fish at these locations: Blackwall Reach, Point Walter, and Burswood Park. There are many good fish there especially at Blackwall Reach and Point Walter there’s lots of tailor, bream, occasional whiting and flathead and sometimes baby Pink snapper at Blackwall Reach. You can catch the tailor at around sunset and sunrise at The Point Walter jetty using a small deep diving lure off the jetty. And when it comes to bream fishing there use a small rod with a sliding sinker rig with the smallest hook u got and use prawns as bait. Lures don’t really work for bream in my opinion but they might. Another good spot is Fremantle harbour especially on the North and South Mole wave breakers there are lots of fish there including tailor, Pinkies and herring. When u snapper fish there use a 12 ft surf rod and big bait and heavy sinker and cast as far as u can and fish there at night for the herring and tailor use a deep diving lure or popper. Another good spot is the Busselton jetty which is a jetty about 1 km long and it is about a 2-3 hr drive south of Perth. There Are massive stingrays and lots of fish including herring, trevally, tailor, blue swimmer crabs, squid, snapper, sharks and many more species. It is a great spot and I definitely recommend there and I guarantee you will catch something there. I forgot to mention that there are blue swimmer crabs at the Swan river and you can either catch them using a crab pot or walk around at the Point Walter sandbar with a crab scoop and a bucket and watch out for the blowfish especially for Your dog . The blowfish are kind of annoying because they steel your bait but if u can get past them the real fish will bite. Blue swimmer crabs taste amazing but pls do some research on them especially seasons and size.

Mate, no need to be on the floor having a sad about the outcome. Big trevally. The outcome is your learning experience and your progress is how you respond to it. If you want to reef fish use the boat, pull up on the fish and drop straight down to them. Casting out is for beaches or flat bottom creeks without coral bottom. You will always loose your gear if you do. Casting up current so it lands at your feet is the only reason to do so. The second fish you got is a peacock cod. Coral trout have a flat angular square back tail and cod a round one. If you’re keen on a mackerel before it starts to cool off you are best finding some good current out the back of the islands in some closer to 20 meters water until it cools off more and they do the run in close. Hope you work your situation out it would be great to see you reach your goal. And the Barra , go to a creek mouth of a creek that does have some tidal run in the later quarter to the build up to the moon with some livies on the incoming maybe a little on the out. That is a Barra ticket. Remembering the loss is your next drive and it make the effort more rewarding. Don’t dwell with the loose comments mate recognise the mistake be conscious of what happens next time and go with a plan around it. Be critical of your self, not harsh and Enjoy your progress. Its a beautiful experience that we take for granted later.
@fish537 Жыл бұрын
