Nice one! I did a trip over to St Mary’s myself last month on the helicopter from Penzance - then hired a golf buggy for the day - great fun!

Another very well presented vlog. You are certainly proving to me that it is worth waiting for you to bring out something worthwhile, rather than just pumping out 'content' for the sake of it. I think your choice of 'soaking up the scenery' was most apt in view of the weather 😄. I thought the choice of music fitted well with the images.

Thank you so much! I’m hoping that now I’ve finished exams you won’t have to wait as long for the next vlog!

Great video, I particularly enjoyed the view you got of the Royal Albert bridge. I'd love to do that trip over it in the future.

It is certainly an amazing sight approaching the bridge!

Did you manage to visit the delightful Sub-Tropical Gardens on the island of Tresco? Or the Star Castle Hotel in the Garrison at St. Mary's? When I last travelled to the Isles of Scilly with a through Rail/Air ticket the connection from Penzance to St.Mary's was provided by a very noisy 1964 Sikorsky helicopter ... which was older than I was at that time, but was obviously very well mauntained!

Your trip to Scilly certainly sounded like it was good fun! Unfortunately we didn’t have time to visit either this time on the islands but we did visit the abbey gardens last year!

Great trip, looking at the fares I'm guessing that's the reason you didn't use XC to New Street? Interesting that you showed an EMR Nottingham service at Peterborough that doesn't stop at Stamford?
@RorysTravels5 ай бұрын
You guessed correctly, the fares on XC seem to be so much higher than all of the other operators for some reason! The EMR service to Nottingham also does stop at all stations between Peterborough and Leicester (Stamford included) so it is really handy for connecting onto if we miss the XC train!

@@RorysTravels From memory and being a Nottingham resident, the only Peterborough-Nottingham services that call at Stamford are early morning or late evening. The normal services from Nottingham to Norwich go via Grantham and ECML. Once I did get a late evening Melton-Nottingham service that even missed out Leicester using Syston North curve, it ran so the drivers retained route knowledge in the event of diversions.

I believe you’re right, and as the EMR train in the video was the one we got on to Stamford I think that the 20:12 from Peterborough must be that late service that you were talking about.

Good vlog Rory. Like the length of these - sometimes when travel vlogs go on for an hour you skip a lot of it. Not with yours. Look forward to the next one.

Did you stayed a few nights in Isle of Scilly tho? 🤔
@RorysTravels5 ай бұрын
Yes, we did! We had 5 nights on Scilly but I decided to relax rather than vlog and just focus on the transport to and from the islands :)

Well, I'm a little curious how you were so easily change your travel plans. These days, you seem to have to book specific seats on specific trains in order to be only moderately ripped off! If you miss your train, some companies will charge you full price to get a later on, unless you were delayed by their own incompetence!
@RorysTravels5 ай бұрын
I completely share your frustration. We had to book well in advance to get cheaper fares. Usually if something goes wrong I find the best thing to do is to just speak to the staff and usually they are very understanding about delays and cancellations. Unfortunately though we always prepare ourselves to make other plans.
