Magical place Orkney! Must go there again, though island-hopping around the outer isles isn't easy, though much better than it used to be. It helped that you had good weather - on a sunny day, Orkney has some special sort of light somehow (can't explain it) - though the weather can be wildly variable - on my day trip to Westray we had flat calm with fog, bright sunshine and storm force winds all within a few hours! Defiinitely worth your trip on LNER and Scotrail to get there!
