Love your channel here in the Blue Ridge Mountains Of Western North Carolina! My little sister passed away on January 5th of cancer and we loved watching your channel together, your adventures always made her go to a better place and eased her pain, we was trying to save up enough money to get her some of your tee-shirts and apperal but the medical bills were just to much. I just wanted to say thank you for what you do and if you ever feel like what you do isn't worth it believe me it's worth more than you will ever know to our family. Hopefully we can come to Florida one day. Love you guys and thank you for everything that you do!!

@@arvilcockerham6508 that's awesome! And a cool coincidence, i lived up in Ararat for 6 years, just outside Mt Airy & moved back here to Jonesville again about 2 years ago, lol! My Mom's family is from Elkin, Daddy's is from Jonesville. Sounds like we've got the makings to start an NC Mountains chapter of a Blue Gabe fan club here on this thread, lol 😂😉

It’s a lot harder than you think. I bought 10 traps this year. I’ve caught 6 crabs with two keeper claws at a cost of about $600 worth of gear and bait so far and that doesn’t even count fuel and my boat… maybe I’ll get the hang of it, but right now I’m at about $300 per claw!

As they were building Gables by the Sea on Biscayne Bay, Many bales would wash ashore, and the phone line was going. Long before beepers and cell phones. I used to know the phone number of everyone on my baseball team. Those were the 5 finger 20.00 bags. It was difficult to get the salty taste out of it 😂😂

I king crabbed in AK back in the mid-70s & we'd run thru jellyfish sometimes that would disintegrate coming in with the crab line thru the king-hauler. As the coiler [no automatic coilers back then!], as it would bring in the crab line, the pieces of jelly fish would get tossed all over our faces and invariably our wrists, even though we wore rubber gloves and rain gear. Thanks for sharing this experience as it reminded me of king crabbbing on a calm day.

Very Cool! Love me some stoney's...I tried doing the recreational set-up and I broke even (cost of traps and bait) in 2 months. You have to check them once a wk minimum and conditions are not always clear sky and flat seas. Much respect for commercial guys. Stopped after traps were either a taken out by storm or stolen.

Our family is from Canada nowhere near an ocean lol. A treat for us is buying stone crab claws because it’s an affordable option for us to get to experience that. The kids love them and they are a fraction of the cost of other kinds of frozen crab we get in our grocery store

Dungeness are on my list to try sometime in the near future. I ordered some Stone Crab here recently and gave them a try. The cost to taste and work ratios told me to stick with my favorites King Crab and Lobster tails. Living in Nebraska, you really gotta pay to get what you love though LOL.

@@masterbratac7379 I've had them all and for me at least, fresh Dungeness crabs are hands down the best. Come out to Washington for a visit but do not stay in Seattle is you can help it. Head on over to Bremerton or Port Angeles if you have a bit of time. Dungeness Bay is really close to Port Angeles... There are some amazing B&Bs in that area. If you don't have time, get your Dungies at the fish monger in the Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle. They are primo. If it has to be a restaurant and you're in Seattle, short on time, Ivar's on pier 54 every time.

It's not the fisherman cost, it's the 300% mark up that the buyers put on it, then another markup that the grocery store or fish market puts on it. That's why if you can buy it right from the boat.
