Anyone know how these parallel fax paths are created in a DAW like Cubase? Could the sound just be duplicated and processed differently?

I'm a bit of a synth noob (I've mostly made orchestra music). So is most of the mixing and alterations being done on the fabfilter program? I recognize a few things that are built into my DAW like EQs and limiters, but could someone explain to me the modulating comb filters? That flew right over my head 😅
