For anyone who's interested, the light strobing is likely from the fact that it was filmed in slow motion under alternating current light fixtures. AC lights constantly flicker but it's fast enough that humans don't perceive it. When you film in slow motion, the brief period of time where the current switches polarity is stretched out and makes the scene look like it's dimming.

These are all so so good...i didn't think i could love these guys more but this podcast has shown even more how brilliant and talented all 3 of them have always been. We're getting such a lucky peak into their creative process, just the way they bullshit together is really germane. You can tell they are used to pinpointing what is interesting in their casual conversations. Can't believe we're going to get another 100 of these, what a treat!

I'm guessing the strobing was from the fluorescent lights, they operate at the same frequency as the electricity, which is 60 cycles per second in America... if you slow the film down you'll see the strobes, kinda like blinking your eyes really fast when you look at a ceiling fan. You'd need a different kind of lighting to prevent the strobing effect in slow motion

Lmao yeah, I'm surprised they said they think it's a bad movie. Like it's not the best movie ever, but it's certainly not bad. I'd get bored out of my mind if I watched it years ago, but I watched it this year and I enjoyed it for what it was. It' also surprising since I'm still younger than when they would've watched it lol. Only problem with the movie, and the other movie of Clint Eastwood I watched, Gran Torino, is that the dialogue doesn't feel authentic and the acting isn't that natural like other movies. Like they wait till it's their turn to say their line or they wait till the director says action to say their line, it all kinda feels like fake and you know you're watching a movie and actors playing characters. And I would totally 100% get it if someone said they hated the movie and thought it was boring, but saying it was terrible is another thing.
