I love the Citirail ES44ACs. Too bad they are all owned by CN now, except for two that were wrecked and scrapped. The Citirail scheme actually would have made a great modern scheme for a surviving and expanded Delaware and Hudson RR if it was still around. Thank God for model railroading, I can have Santa Fe warbonnet ES44ACs and ET44ACs, and have D&H units of the same type running through!

Model railroading is a great vehicle to do the fantasy liveries of not just locomotives but railcars too. Imagine a modern grain car but in the China Red colors of the CB&Q, for example.

Suspect the CITX locomotives are moving on Waybills as 'Freight' with charges being assessed to the consignee. CSX Train Handling Rules require DIT (dead in tow) to be handled in the locomotive consist, not in the body of the train.

I wish I could go back in time to get video of some of the trains I saw when I was younger. About 25 years ago, my dad and I went to Fostoria, OH for a day and caught an NS train transporting 12 brand new CP AC44000s fresh out of the paint shop. I have some pictures of them but would have loved to have high quality video.

Thank you for reissuing this video from 2014 from one of your trips to the Deshler, Ohio area with a new voice over, Drayton! I do not remember if I viewed a previous version of this video. I did enjoy watching the trains that are in this video. The Q393 train must have picked up those new CitiRail lease units somewhere to take them to a location where they will await their assignments with various railroads. Do you know if the CitiRail units were picked up in Erie, Pennsylvania from the GE plant? (_Posted 14 July 2024 at 2040 CDT.)

So somehow the pulling power of all locomotives are added together. That was some progressive forward thinking To combat the reduced pulling power from environment -friendly locomotives, you must pull train cars with more than one locomotive.

SantaFe used to have power imbalances, and theyd send as many as 20 units on an e/b pig train to Chicago. Sometimes b/4 1984 theyd do it as a cabhop, with a caboose,(waycar) for you SantaFe purists.

Why would they have all 12 at the head? That would mean that the weight of the entire consist would be down to the coupler between the last loco and the first car. Isn't it more common to distribute them to the middle and rear of the consist so that the strain is distributed?
