Regarding Mongolia, the Russians DID influence them. Outer Mongolia gained their independence from Qing China in 1911, and enjoyed brief autonomy before it was seized by the Republic of China in 1919. Mongolia was recognized by the Bolshevik government in August 1919. Two years later, the Soviets backed a revolution and the Mongolian People's Republic was established in 1924. When Khorloogiin Choibalsan led the country from 1939 to 1952, he carried out purges in the country on behalf of Stalin. And Mongolian Cyrillic was introduced in the 1940s. When the Yalta Conference happened, the Soviets fought for recognition of Mongolian independence. Yumjaagiin Tsedenbal then led the country from 1952 to 1984 and when the Sino-Soviet split happened, he sided with the Soviets. When there was a military buildup on the Sino-Mongolian border, the Soviets and Mongolia signed a new mutual aid treaty with a secret annex allowing the stationing of Soviet troops and missiles in the country. In 1990, protests for democracy resulted in reforms which established a multi-party system and a market economy, and a new constitution in 1992 ended the socialist republic. The current flag of Mongolia is based off a design done during the People's Republic era which had a star at the top of the Soyombo symbol, but the star was removed in 1992.

I love how Toycat didn't even notice on the map at 6:24 that Vietnam is labelled Thailand and Thailand is labelled Vietnam. Indo-Europeans didn't come from India, they originated in the Pontic-Caspian steppe across Eurasia which extends from northeastern Bulgaria and southeastern Romania to the Northern Caucasus of southern Russia, and into the Lower Volga region of western Kazakhstan. As you see on the precipitation map, Bangladesh is rainier than India and Myanmar and this is thanks to the Southwest monsoon, which originates over the Indian Ocean and carries warm, moist, and unstable air. Combine that with the deltaic plain and its multiplicity of rivers and it makes the country extremely vulnerable. But that aside, imagine an alternate timeline if India was divided by all these countries at 11:31...Tripura as Puerto Rico is so cursed. While Germany didn't colonize in India, they were in China for a bit with a leased territory that transformed a fishing village into a city with a thriving beer culture called Qingdao. The DPRK with Chhattisgarh is even more cursed. Chhattisgarh is home to the Chitrakote Falls which is the widest waterfall in India, reaching a width of nearly 300 meters (980 ft) during the monsoon season. Because of its width and its widespread horseshoe shape during the monsoon season, it is often called the "Niagara Falls of India".

6:09 fair enough but it might be worth at least looking at other financial metrics, GDP per Capita is useful for measuring output of a country, or rather output per person in a country but a better reflection of how much actual stuff they can use with their respective currency (GDP PPP) might paint a more representative picture. Just two my cents.

Access to fertile lands with major rivers, a connection to the sea/ocean to trade, warm/temperate climate and culture of colectivism does it to you But if China at least succeseded in the world India still has a long way to go seeing how poor they are and how horrible and dirty some of their cities look in the districts where poor people live, which is probably 80%-90% of population

@@pao5567Comparing it to the developed countries it is. I don't say that they aren't improving but there's still a long way to go considering the sheer size of the population and I don't belive that India which is a patchwork of countries and cultures that for thousands of years were separte entities is even close in that reagard to China which is in itself a separate civilization much more connected than an Indian living in the north near the Tibet and an Indian living on the south near Sri lanka. Cohesion in the country is crucial to it's stability and economic and social development - you can see that in Pakistan which I don't think would be a great power in the future (if it would be at all)😉 China was an agricultural and poor country that has pulled hundreds of milions of it's people from poverty and now is a leading global power. India is on a good way for that but they still didn't achive that yet

Indo europeans are not from india, they are from the north caucassus, and they migrated into india and europe, giving them the name of indo european. The two oldest indo-european languages are Lithuanian and sanskrit, one in europe one in india. The whole idea of indo europeans coming from india is unsupported and the vast majority of anthropologists that study this would tell you that indo-europeans come from the steppe in the north caucassus and were able to expand due to inventing the charriot. The idea of Indo-europeans coming from india is usually spread by hindu nationalists that have deeply racist views
@rasmusn.e.m1064
@rasmusn.e.m1064 Жыл бұрын
Lithuanian is actually one of the newest Indo-European languages going by pure cladistics because it is one of the last to split from the main branch which means that it is very conservative and therefore looks very old. But deeming an extant language older than others is very tricky because it is not very clear when a language stops being the previous language and starts being the current one. It's more of a ship of Theseus thing.
@Max-pk6uc
@Max-pk6uc Жыл бұрын
@@rasmusn.e.m1064 by the vast amount of people, the age of a language is determined by how much it changed, sanskrit and Lithuanian are very conservative and resemble proto indo european the most to any other descendant language, thus are called old. Your defenition of age isn't incorrect, but you are the first I've heard use it in this way.
@rasmusn.e.m1064
@rasmusn.e.m1064 Жыл бұрын
@@Max-pk6uc It's the way you define the age of species in biology, so it isn't really that weird. All I'm saying is that calling languages conservative is unproblematic, but telling the age of a language requires you to clearly define the language, which isn't always easy because most changes happen gradually.

One correction: Indo-European people originate from modern day Ukraine, from there they went all the way around the Caspian sea and one half into India and Iran, and the other half back into Europe, some groups even made it into western China. There was a "cradle of civilisation" type thing in India, called the Harrapans, but they were there long before the Indo-Europeans ever arrived
