@@_hunter_x_hunter_5809 I don't think it's Charlie's fault tbh. At launch, the game was admittedly p2w due to the game barely giving you any Item Enhancers. All Charlie did was prove at the time that the only way to get Held Items to lvl 30 fast without grinding was to spend money. Nowadays tho, the game gives you alot of options to get item enhancers without spending money. It just takes a bit of grinding, far less grinding compared back in launch day.

The battle pass literally gives a small fraction of the Item Enhancers that you get for the newbie missions in which you play each of the five roles a bunch of times. Those missions are easier to complete than the battle pass missions because you just have to play, not do specific tasks.

I follow this guy, I had to stop the video cause I was cringing so hard, the game is clearly skill based. I thought the emblems were a bad addiction but I tried the game again and i got showered with emblems, and playing every once in a while (maybe a total of 5 days), I had pretty much all the emblems I wanted, even some silver ones. Unlocking Pokemon is the real pain for me.

He put outright wrong information in the video and now expects us to trust him that he has his own account that he actually played on instead of his editor's account? How do we know that he didn't just pay his editor to create an account for him and get through all of the tutorial stuff so a busy man like him doesn't have to bother with it and go straight to the gameplay? It's obvious from the tone of the video that he had an axe to grind, not against Pokémon UNITE in particular but against predatory monetization in mobile games in general. He just happened to pick UNITE as the game to make an example out of. There's no way that he tried to play the game earnestly, in good faith. He was just looking for things in the game to fit his predetermined narrative, ignoring things that didn't fit, and not even mentioning the things that the player community is complaining about now. The "pay-to-win" stuff that he's talking about is only what people talked about over a year ago and is no longer relevant due to the changes that TiMi made in response to the backlash at that time. But the monetization is WORSE now than it was a year ago, but not in the ways that Mrwhosetheboss wanted to talk about. This was just a completely lazy effort on his part, so there is no reason to believe any of his face-saving statements that he's making now that he's the one facing backlash.

With the Attack Weight, you can easily give way more than a 15% stat boost to every character in the game. However, that 15+% boost is not for the entire duration of a match. The Attack Weight boost is a flat amount (once you get up to six scores), while your base Attack stat will increase as you level up. As a result, the Attack Weight will give you a big percentage boost in the early game but will become a small percentage boost in the end game. It's basic math.

My perspective is different than a lot of people because I’ve played a ton of mobile games, usually with a lot of micro transactions, but this is my take: Prior to the introduction of more ways to get held item tokens, the game definitely felt pay to win. It was difficult to get an item to level 20, let alone level 30. And unlocking Pokémon also took a much longer time I am 100% free to play on Pokémon unite, and I have 7 items level 30 and majority of my items level 20, with the ones I don’t have level 20 being useless to me. Keep in mind I’ll have days where I don’t play the game at all, and others I’m playing a ton I am not desperate to unlock every single Pokémon, but I have a lot of them. Compared to other mobile games, Pokémon unite is much more generous with the amount of free items they give Yes progression will take a while as a F2P, but if you expect the highest grossing media franchise to make free to play progression easy, you are going to disappoint yourself. And of course money does not equal skill level. It doesn’t matter how big of a whale you are if you don’t know how to rotate to lane

If you have upgraded an item to a particular level and decided to use the FREE max grade item enhancer you get back the amount if item enhancer you spent for that item..

Of course he didn't mention it because it would invalidate most of his narrative. The video is a grift. It is not a public service announcement. It's sensationalized content that mainly exists to make money from KZbin ad revenue and his external sponsor. The three free Super Item Enhancers plus the 1700 free regular Item Enhancers have been non-timed rewards since the mobile release over a year ago.

Anyone and everyone who plays this game for the first time will eventually see the page where you get rewarded the 3 super enhancers. Whether you use it on the right item or not is completely up to the user having the knowledge that admittedly, the game isn’t really clear about. The fact that he has completely omitted stating that these such super enhancers exist seems a bit shady, because it would invalidate some of his claims.

I've been playing for about 2 months now, F2P. In the beginning weeks I, and many others as well, were just like him. Randomly leveling up random held items, no teamplay, no idea what to do. Now I have almost all items at lvl 20, a few on 30 and one on 1. Dailies and event stuff take me less than an hour to do each day and I've gotten loads of tickets, coins, and item enhancers to get me this far. But especially your and Spragels' guides have helped me loads to have fun with this game and to get better at it. This guy's weak mind just did exactly what these companies want him to do and think, but it's not mandatory. The game can be played full F2P and it's not hard to do. He can pay all he wants for it and level his items up, but if a skilled player creates a new account and is against him in a match he'd still lose.

Well Pokemon unite is still a Team Game, so if your teammates aren't as good as you, you'll still lose lol. There's also the boost emblems as well that's completely free too. Id say you'll eventually get the hang of it if one is dedicated to the game.

My take on this: - Guy payed for some Log-in-Package which doesn't really do anything nor is it needed. - Guy payed for battle pass which doesn't give you much currency. You buy it for the 2 skins. - Guy is a beginner, so yes, he will lose a lot, since beginners are bad players. So this part of the guys video is pretty irrelevant. But: - Pokemon Unite has a lot of stuff to trigger people prone to gambling addiction. That's really bad. A lot of games do this these days. =( - Skins (which are just cosmetic items) are really expensive. But you don't need them. You just shouldn't buy them for real money, your pokemon might be nerfed into oblivion a few days after and you never play with it again. - If you want to play with a lot of different pokemon, you have to grind for a long time - or you have to pay real money. That kind of sucks, but it's a free to play game, so they have to finance themself somehow. Grind and be content with a few pokemon if you are a free to play player or get pokemons you want quickly if you have money you want to spend on it.

The game gives you 3 max enhancers so thats 3 held tems checked off. Theres a total of 17 held items. Theres a no time limit mission to get enhancers for playing as certain roles(attacker, defender,..) 5 matches for 150 and 10 for another 190. (150+190)*8=1700 free items enhancers by just playing the game. Beside level 30 does you no favor level 20 items worked just fine. You only need 567 enhancers for a level 20 so the 1700 free enhancers + some u get for login already got you 3 level 30 and 3 level 20. Not only that some held items are completely useless(rocky helmet, exp share, assault vest) so theres only 14 you have to upgrade. BUT theres also some items that can work on multiple pokemon(scope lens, muscle band, attack weight,..). So dont make the excuses of "ppl have better held items so thats why i lost".

True p2w used to mean, back in the good old days, that some things that actually gave you a competitive advantage were LOCKED behind mandatory paywalls. Then the definition evolved because some games allowed you to get stuff if you grinded for literal decades or spent money. While there is a bit of a thin line as to where people will place their "how much time is too much time", there's also an element of just how fun or good the game is, how much of your skill can be influenced by just stats or your dexterity with controls, your reaction speed, decision making. Unite just so happens to be the worst example possible to hijack this into a "gacha games bad" video, which isnt even wrong on most levels. This is because progression should be seen as a continuous thing. If all that is in your mind playing Unite is: "HOW MUCH LONGER TILL ALL HELD ITEMS LVL 30" to the point that you're not even having fun, then just dont play. In fact, dont play any game whatsoever. I feel like people's attention spans and patience are rapidly plunging to near 0, and recognition that time spent on a game, provided you're actively playing it, will result in a consolidation of resources, and most people in the comments who have played for even a couple of months can attest to the fact that held items, in their current state, with the 3 free lvl 30 ones, are pretty fair.

You really don't need to pay to enjoy the game If you play it often, sure why not spending a bit to buy a cosmetic or something, nothing wrong with that.

They need money, and even the "gem locked" pokemon aren't broken, and it's not like of you don't use it you lose, remember is a 5vs5 game and those 5v5 can't have the same "payed with real money" pokemon. You don't need the new Pokemon to win because the ones they buff are the old ones and some new Pokemon are given for free so you don't even have them "gem locked".

I spent only a total of 10 bucks on Unite for 1 battle pass, and have been able to get to master rank just about every season I have been playing. Having level 30 items means nothing if you have no knowledge of how to play the game. The thing that took my gameplay up a notch was watching this channel, Spragels, and Unite Climbing Guide. My wife hasnt spent a dime on the game and plays just casually but she has a good win rate from watching these channels and me telling her how to play.

It's sad how many people don't get what Pay2Win means. Stop taking everything so literal. It's about getting something faster to get an advantage and not about winning, even when that comes with it in many games. Because you can get Level 20 on the important items easily in a year, you don't notice the Pay2Win aspect anymore. It was very obvious during release, but now that people caught up with it, you can't see it anymore. He definetly didn't chose the right time to make this video and neither did he play the game for long, but it's pissing me off that people act like it's not Pay2Win just because they played some thousand matches and are on par with a person that payed a lot. You played a thousand matches but he payed a thousand and didn't play that much and still has it, that's the point of Pay2Win! If you started at the same time you would be crying that the game is too Pay2Win so stop lying to feel better. Sure, it's not to the extend of Diablo Immortal, but does a Game this big even have to be Pay2Win in the first place? Especially if you think about Pokemon being the best selling Video Game Franchise by far, it doesn't have to be this kind of a moneymaker. And nobody can tell me that Pokemon Unite cares for its users. Just think about how long Mr. Mime was op and Zapdos was destroying games left and right for a year. And that you can't buy the new Pokemon with Aeos Coins for a week underlines this further. The price tag of the Pokemon also increased drastically for no reason. They should have done the exact opposite considering the amount of Aeos coins you would need IF you wanted to upgrade all emblems to gold. I've played a lot of Pay2Win Games that can take 100k+ if you play for a year and in comparison Pokemon Unite seems small, but nonetheless Auch Kleinvieh macht Mist!

1. DONT WASTE GEMS ON ANYTHING OTHER THAN IF YOU WANT SOME STYLE TO YOUR POKEMON! 2. for number or statistic lover/freak. SKill Multiplier/Damage/Percentage(%) can be calculated or predicted with ofc some research and look at the unite DB for more info , dont just pull up 15% dmg out from nowhere 3. Level 20 held items are good to go 4. hone your skill and gain some knowledge about the game, i love charlie/penguinz0 but after his thoughts about held item some time ago, the p2w thingy always brought up into the game. charlie is a good/skilled player and im not surprised that he smash the competition/the enemy and ofc with gengar even w/o held item still smash squishy mons
